The problem we face right now with getting a stimulus bill out of the US Congress is the standard two-party dysfunction. The Republicans in the Senate have a bill heavy on corporate bailout, short on repayment afterwards or oversight during the crisis. Also short on aid to workers. The Democrats object to this, and the Republicans deny it exists. While our two parties argue and cast blame back and forth, various economists, Federal Reserve Bank officials and other very smart people are saying that speed is critical and the US economy needs a solid $2 Trillion instantly.

Failing that there are projections of not just a reversal in economic growth but a negative 24% drop followed by unemployment as high as 30%.

    What causes all that?

Simple, it is panic. By market traders, by consumers, by idiots hoarding toilet paper, by all this idiotic mass hysteria.

Combined with our standard two-party political dysfunction, and the failure of Trump to be even slightly better than his usual self.

No, it is caused by mass unemployment due to drastic measures needed to prevent this spreading like wildfire and overwhelming every aspect of society.

The :democrat: should have been eliminated at the end of the Civil War as they've offered nothing but evil since its founding.

Yup. They want to give the Trump administration 500 billion to do exactly whatever he wants with it, no questions ask and no accountability. Putin is orgasmic over that plan.

Don't forget about airline emissions restrictions, solar credits, and union benefits. I'd be embarrassed to call myself a democrat if I were you.

I don’t call myself a Dem. You do, because you’re a hater and everyone who doesn’t bow to being a Trump minion must be one.

I did post it. Scroll up to post #257.

Although I admit it doesn't matter. I've long since accepted the fact that the left doesn't understand the constitution and would hate it if they did. Your argument is that Presidents and only Presidents are responsible for budget deficits. You don't seem to believe that appropriation bills originate from the House. So what Kind of discussion could we possibly have when you don't even understand where the money comes from?

Sounds like nonsense, except for the recession part. In all likelihood we're in a depression right now.

Dems always want more. That's a constant.

OK let's not have a bill then. Because there will never be a circumstance in which Democrats won't want "more."

Not surprisingly, you strike me as exactly the type of poster who would be in favor of outlawing political parties that you don't like.

Only those who don’t believe in science. They have no practical use. Just making s.h.i.t up so the party continues as an apartheid government is pretty useless.

There you go, making up more stuff. Absolutely crappola. Of course you can’t actually post what I actually said either. Probably some innocuous reference .
Never said that. But when one is pinned down by the facts, what’s a little fib, then another, then another.....

Here's where I fault McConnell, if the corporate side of this stimulus truly is holding up helping Americans with direct payments split the bill and vote on the direct payments to Americans now. Quibble about the rest later imo

I think we can both agree that the vast majority of people should be publicly covered. At first most people will have private insurance, and the public option will be for some people. Once the public option has been established, we can make the public option a better deal than private insurance by reducing the premiums people have to pay for the public opinion through payroll taxes. This will result in only the richest people opting for private insurance.

I do not think corporations should pay less for healthcare than they do now. If corporations pay less per employee, I am pretty sure they are not going to increase wages proportionally. Meanwhile it will be the workers that will have to pay higher healthcare taxes to cover what corporations used to cover. This is why I support raising the payroll taxes, including the employer portion.

And you made some good points about criminals being caught easier with public healthcare. The same can happen with the public option.
