Trump's $15 billion, supposedly impenetrable border wall with Mexico is a joke

    ....
It’s true. The $15 billion wall, which Trump claimed over and over again that Mexico would pay for, “is no match for a $15 hand saw.”

Even cheaper tools probably would have poked holes in it.

This scenario was expected. All that money to waste, with people actually convinced that a wall would stop illegals from crossing. It is a 4th century BC solution to 21st century problem.

I read countless posts on how the wall made a difference, well look at it now. As I said, drone sentries and a rapid response team would have been far more effective. In addition, with the Army's Air Defense school at Ft Bliss, El Paso, TX, and Ft Huachuca, Sierra Vista, AZ, with its work on Command and Control systems, it is a perfect testing ground for such systems.

A few more border guards could have been done, pennies on the dollar.

We'll never know how much of that 15B went into trump's pocket.

We are already paying over 18,000 border guards to guard our southern border.

That is a lot, but even though Trump's project was a bust, people do want a secure border.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit, and if not Trump, someone close, or the company that won the bid.

Did anybody who voted for Trump in 2016, actually believe any of Trump's "Wall" BS?

I supported him in 2016. The wall not one of the reasons but I viewed it as a nice to have if Mexico would pay for it. I was such a big part of his campaign. For me it was more of an opportunity to see Trump's negotiation skills in action. To be honest I believed if Trump was willing to put major economic pressures on Mexico like not include them in the new USMCA he would have succeeded in making Mexico pay. This is like the idea of sanctions on China. It would cause the US some economic pain but in the scenario with Mexico I think it would hurt them a lot more. Essentially paying for the wall is an economic decision. If the US placed pressures on Mexico that caused economic impacts on Mexico that would be greater than the amount for the wall they would probably pay. Look at Russia as an example. The sanctions have had major impact on their economy. I will admit it would not go that far with Mexico since we would not get international buy in but the US trade alone is a huge hammer to wield against Mexico. There are side effects to this strategy such as how will the rest of the world view the US for using such tactics. This may impact trade with other nations but that would have to be a calculation that Trump made before making the promises.

Unfortunately Trump failed in getting Mexico to pay and I did not support US taxpayers paying for the wall.

That is just pure craziness!!! What on Earth are you trying to say?

You honestly think former President Trump had a backdoor deal to get paid when our government paid for the border wall?

That's like saying he had a fake kids' cancer charity to steal money or set up a worthless school and took people's money for a worthless "diploma".

That's just as crazy as saying that he lied about his assets so he could get loans and then filed bankruptcy over and over and over leaving all that debt which lead to the terminations of some bank employees and his own employees unpaid. That's laughable!

That's kind of like saying he received millions of dollars from the Chinese government when he was in office or made a deal with the Taliban and invited them to Camp David or conspired with Putin to invade the Ukraine so he could broker a "negotiation".

    Don't be silly! /sarc.

We need some form of border protection, these people infiltrating the US cause insane amounts of crime and cost us billions. I would not expect trump to have a winning idea, we need someone who is looking out for the US and not himself all the time.

Your avatar is spooky. Can Trump protect me from that? I don't know if I have enough $ to grease his already greasy palms though.

    P.S. Change it back. ;-0

Then we should pay for 18,000 more, and border jumpers should be returned to Mexico instantly.

A virtual wall would have been more helpful. Time to move out of the 18th century, Trump fans. Drones and sensors to track people crossing the
border with instant relays to Border Patrol so they could intercept.

I don't support any kind of open borders, but the wall was always just something that would be defeated by average Coyote Dude in a few minutes.

We need to work on more 9 month sponsorships from employers and put the money we were wasting in the Middle-East into rebuilding Central America.

If a wall can be cut through with a simple blow torch, then it doesn't matter if there were gaps at the ends - it's like expecting a three row cattle fence to
    keep the chickens in.

if you want to stop illegals, go after the employers that knowingly hire them, make it a felony and confiscate their business when caught - simple

Not as big a joke as the tragic comedy Biden's immigration policy is. Flying illegal aliens to undisclosed locations in the dark of night and pulling Border Patrol agents off patrol to handle the masses of people just walking across makes Trump wall failures insignificant.

This is a dup thread and I'm surprised the board's hall monitor hasn't chastised you yet, he usually does.

Anyway, the border and all that goes with it is now in the hand of Kamala Harris, didn't you know that? And when she and Biden abandoned the border and the wall, then it should come as no surprise that people are breaching it. Prison inmates would eventually bust through prison walls if the guards weren't around.

Anyway, so much for the left's contention that illegals and their drugs come here via ports of entry and visa overstays.

One doesn't negate the other - you can have illegals and drugs using BOTH.

All the Trump supporters in my neck of the woods have flip phones. None of them know how to use the internet...not even a little bit.

It's obvious that is not true for all of them including the Orange Stain himself, but that might be a tall order for some voting districts.
