    turkey getting huffy and puffy like rattling the Russian bears cage, only because it can because the the usa eagles might backs it up, sooner or later a jet or 2 or ship makes a mistake a has a shooting mishap with Russian forces on patrol.

    If the only other nation with a large military presence on the Black Sea behaves in a very aggressive manner towards its neighbor, seizing some of its territory (Crimea), you can hardly blame Turkey for simultaneously making sure its fleet and air force are in combat condition while trying to send an unspoken message to Russia that they would not be such an easy target. That's all that is involved here.

    but if they had a surprise tora tora! like marine invasion [​IMG] attack from Russia, the usa and nato would counter Russia and push them back into the sea. so the exercise is not needed during these higher then normal tension like times , they can hold this off till late summer and still get there training done..

    Russia wouldn't be that easy to counter, since no one wants to go nuclear. Let's draw a REAL line in the sand and then the Russians will know to stay on their side of the line.
