What exports are your referring too? Has not Australia turned into being a servicer country, rather than manufacturer & exporter?

I'm sorry, but when the population of a country is in so much debt, that its reduced to selling all its assets and land to foreign ownership - then its time to stop giving away $5 billion in fee foreign aid every year.

No one in the real world dream of selling household items secondhand to financially survive, and then borrow $thousands from the bank to give away to strangers for free.

You are missing the point. If you are like me I throw money at my adult children. Yep, I give it away without expectation that those monies will return in that form. When it comes to building a deck or painting the house or doing odd favours I can always rely on my good deeds to return in another form. Looking after our dog while on holidays, picking up some extra rubbish when they're making a trip to the dump, watering the wives plants when away. Receiving gifts of free holidays and nice prezzies around Christmas time but above all, their love and company. Not completely how so called free aide probably works at the core but certainly secondary responses you would hope for.

What you alluding too is in the form of family and close friends - not strangers. Yes, you give money to family, but do you hand out money to strangers in the street expecting the same rewards as you would by giving money to your family? NO.

Of course you don't, but another country that needs support just can't pack up and hide out somewhere that they can't be found again.

For every $1000.00 we "so called" give away $3.20.

Services are a big Australian export.

Can you give a few examples? Didn't really know it was possible to export services completed and conducted in your own country.

Here you go. It's strange to me too-part of my learning curve:

In 2014-15, Australia's five largest services exports were:

    Education-related travel services - $18.2 billion
Recreational travel services - $14.8 billion
    Professional services - $4.7 billion
    Business travel services $4.3 billion
    Financial services - $3.6 billion

If scientific R&D was financed in Australia we could export the resultant services, too eg: renewable energy technological services. I often wonder how much CSIRO would have made if it had patented its wifi technology. I suspect it wouldn't be so subject to government funding cuts now.
