Twitter Under Elon Musk Will Be a Scary Place

While I agree with most of what you said, Elon has been extremely clear and it's been designed to give you insight concerning this purchase. Elon thinks limiting free speech to one political party is extremely dangerous that leads to destruction of democracy. He's exactly right, throughout history the lessons are clear. Communism uses the media to control the people. Hitler used the media to control the people. This isn't about allowing attacks, allowing one to say anything and everything, it's about allowing both sides of a discussion to take place from the powerful voices. The ones with their hair on fire are on the extreme left that is upset their voice will now be challenged more.

The people happy and the people sad are all overestimating the importance of twitter.

 

Twitter is more or less a news/media site, few read through the thousands of comments to have debates with those who don't respond. That's a sideshow for the fringe. Hunter's laptop is a great example of suppression of a voice, specifically the oldest newspaper in America. Now that the election is over, the left's media outlets like NYT and CNN are all reporting on it and the complications it has for Hunter and the President. American's deserve to hear both sides and make up their mind, this isn't communist China or Nazi Germany by the way.

You might be missing the point. I don't care for Twitter. I probably won't use it. This is all about freedom of speech and a level playing field. I don't mind you posting/tweeting disinformation, but I can't stand the idea of someone else deciding what I should/can read. I don't need a damn Nanny!

Americans tend to think all discussion topics in the world are limited to the two parties in US, but Twitter has 300 million users from all kind of countries, so when he mentions "freedom of speech" he is not talking about only the US politics.

I think he is playing people like you who think he is doing this as a favor to any political faction. He is selling his product.

If you are a former Tesla employee, and go to Twitter to bad-mouth Musk, or Tesla, he'll take you to court. Period. How's that for freedom of speech? If he was truly a defender of freedom of speech, he would not make his employees sign life-long agreemets to never bad-mouth him or his company.

We'll find out what the new Twitter will be all about. Until then we can only speculate.

Oh I think climate change is a serious problem we need to be dealing with, but i don't think it will cause the end of life as we know it in any of our lifetimes.
