Paul Ryan is a corporate puppet that hates poor people- what's new?

He could never get people in his own party to vote for it, so saying "the GOP" collectively hates social security is still wrong. My answer is the same- there's parts of the Democratic party that also hate social security. There's bipartisan support and opposition for it.

Except Christianity isn't a fundamental part of the US's ideology...

Um no. At the very least, you could argue that God gave people freedom and autonomy, but rights are very much a legal construct.

And what are these "God given rights" per se?

    1. Murder being wrong predates christianity and judaism
    2. We very much approve of killing people who don't believe as we do, and even of people who believe as we do. We do.

And last I checked, when the US was founded, it was founded by a very small and select group of intellectuals.

Similar to a Ponzi scheme only, one is forced to 'invest' while the number subsequent 'investors' keeps dwindling due to attrition. It's become a bad 'deal.' I remember some Democrat candidates in the past called it a 'lock box'....The height of foolishness and lying.

This is not a Christian nation. A Christian nation wouldn't have voted for someone like Trump for potus.

American Christians really should stop pretending they follow the teaching of Jesus. Mortals like us can easily see through their fake faith, let alone an omniscient god.

American culture has its roots deep in Christianity. The Pilgrims arrive from England seeking religious freedom. Their religion? Christianity. Religion was the entire reason they came here.

The Founding Fathers constantly thought about religion. It's mentioned in our founding documents. What religion was always on their mind? Was it Islam? No. Was it Baha'i? No. It was Christianity, or at least our Judeo-Christian tradition.

Even today, a majority of Americans are Christian. And we still have God on our buildings, on our money, etc.

We are a de facto Christian nation, even if many people don't want anything to do with religion.

So much hatred. 1,000x worse than any religious hatred of homosexuals.

Really? For two thousand years religious imprisoned gay people, they executed them - as recently as the 50's, they chemically castrated gay people. Religious people fired gay from their jobs, and until the last few years, they disrespected their military service.
So I'm going to call complete and total Bull S**t on your post.

It is what it is, and it serves its purpose, no matter what you call it. Americans know they aren't going to starve to death when they are no longer able to work, as happened before SS.

What I hate is people trying to paint a group of people the same with a broad brush.
Very very few want a socialist country.

I believe in the right of gay American citizens to marry and adopt. I support the idea that we need to take a serious look at climate change and it's possible causes. I support the right to own firearms. I believe in individuals creating businesses and making money is generally a good thing.
    To a Trump FanBoy, I'm a socialist.

How was it sold to the public.
I was always told todays workers are paying for todays recipients. And tomorrows recipients will be paid for by tomorrows workers. And we'll all receive some SS based on our earnings over the career of working.
Not that the money is sitting in some account with our name on it.

NO. It does not say 'the creator'. It says 'their creator'. Making it any being one personally believes or not believes.

Well, wouldn't you have to add the Veteran's Administration to this list?

Yes, and they serve only to obscure the values themselves, which are so simple as to defy interpretation.
