For only in America.....can you fly halfway across the world to represent your country, win a Medal/Trophy/Prize.....

......only to have a Liberal Bureaucrat impose a tax on your success. You Didnt Win That.....

Of course you dont have to be an Olympian, much less travel across the world to experience this.......Punishing Success/Rewarding Failure is the very foundation for almost every Democrat Policy or Tax in this country.

To consider Michael Phelps has won 19 medals......only to be punished with over $100,000 in Democrat taxes.

    .....pretty (D)isgusting.

"In the United States, we tax everything that moves and doesnt move"

    ---Hitlary Clinton (D)

Taxing for income not even earned in the US is absolutely OUTRAGEOUS.

    Liberals are PIGS.

How dare you equate earning a gold medal by training your ass off and winning a game of skill with gambling.

    Absolutely DISGUSTING.

    Have you no shame whatsoever?????

Income earned overseas is not the same as income earned on US soil. That's one of the problems. But believe me, by now I understand you don't exactly pick up on things very quickly.

Still the money they make is PRIZE MONEY. Which is income nothing more. Why should they be tax free? To my knowledge Olympians do not compete for money.

I am sorry, but why would anyone think that tax is exclusive to the Democrats?

For the love of all things reasonable, there is nothing in your article to suggest such claim.

Yeah sounds great. An American pediatrician treating AMERICANS in poor rural communities struggles under a crushing student debt load but let's give a tennis table player a tax break. Give me a break. Get your priorities straight righties.

I think giving a special exclusion for Olympic Athletes would be fine- it is once every 4 years and they are representing us, and this would be less than minimum wage for each of them if you consider the hours they put in.

But of course it isn't a 'Democrat' tax'- thats just the usual political B.S.

Lets put it another way....who controlled the government during the last Olympics- when the athletes had to pay the taxes then?

Tax on the income makes sense. Taxing the medals doesnt.

Yeah how do they feed themselves. Rubio is an idiot of the first order.

    They don't tax the medal.

Well, atleast the Liberals here admit they are all for punishing success.Of course we conservatives knew that all along.
And dont forget, many of these athletes are NOT wealthy, they are not "1%"ers,or "fat cats",but are kids who trained all their lives only to get slapped by the country the worked hard to represent.
    Disgusting

ATR, the group that crunched the numbers, said it’s unlikely any of America’s competition will face the same taxes because the U.S. “is virtually the only developed nation that taxes ‘worldwide’ income earned overseas by its taxpayers.”

Sheesh, government just has to get it's little piece of everything. Hard telling what sort of nonsense the tax revenue will be wasted on. I have to agree that our Olympians should be allowed to keep all winnings associated with the games. They strive for perfection and give their all, not just for themselves, but for the country as well. I hope Rubio's bill is passed.
