Just to add....how many of us have tried to explain the reasons why the U.S. Military uses M-16 Variants such as the M-4 or any variant that fires the 5.56 round to another member here who professes how much better an AK-47 is and that we would be better off carrying AK-47's?

I have tried at LENGTH to explain that although the AK-47 will fire if it is dropped in mud or water or sand...etc....that the M-16 and Variants of it are a PRECISION WEAPON that although needs to be cleaned and taken care of allows a Soldier to carry more ammo because the ammo is lighter and that it has the ability to shoot and kill the enemy at much further distances?

After awhile....explaining this get's OLD very quickly!

Google the following tshirt : No One Owes You Anything - Earn It T-shirt from Ranger Up

One of those needs to be handed out to every person in person in the country, for charity.

    EXACTLY!!!!

Some people just want everything handed to them and they don't want to work for it as they feel they are OWED such things.

Well no one is OWED anything!!!

And it really FROSTS MY A$$ when some people complain about how certain things are but they NEVER WILL ACTUALLY DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN B!#@H RATHER THAN TO ACTUALLY TRY TO FIX SUCH PROBLEMS!

They complain about this and B!#@H about that.....but if they were to lose power so they could not watch TV or go on the INTERNET they are the FIRST ONE'S COMPLAINING!!! Even though they spent the whole day protesting a plan to modernize the Electrical Grid because the new Power Lines needed would require cutting down some TREES!!!

I was a steel fabricator for 23 years. The most satisfying job I had was at a small shop, with just 5 guys on the floor. The plan was simple. You go to Steve (the owner) and he hands you a print. You go to your work station, and figure out where to start. You get on the forklift, and start hauling material in. You lay out, and burn, and punch and drill and bend and fit and weld until your thing is what the print said to make.
Often, no-one in the shop knows what this thing is. Build it and see.
It's some of the hardest work a man can do, and in Utah, you won't make any money at it. But to this day, there are schools, shopping centers, bridges, municipal buildings and all of the other junk that the world is made of that was made by me. Still, no-one owes me anything, because that's how Americans live.

A truly consise comment. If you look at the origin design parameters for the AK as specified by old man Kalishnikov was for a harder hitting and longer range weapon than the German MP38/40, a weapon he was impressed with. In short the AK is longer range sub gun with abilities of a carbine. It's default setting is to full auto.
The AR15/M16 history is a bit more complicated, but its original specs as a military weapon came from the USAF as a firearm to replace the M3 subgun, M1/M2 carbine and M1 rifle. It's other requirement was from Green Berets/SF'ers training Asian troops who preferred the M1/M2 carbine vs the M1 Garand and need the extra firepower, range and accuracy.

My Parents...my Dad was U.S. Military and my Mom was..."CIVILIAN"....like I am....were all about...."THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS EXCUSES....YOU EITHER GOT IT DONE OR YOU DIDN'T!"

It was TOUGH LOVE....but now looking back I KNOW I was one of the LUCKIEST KID'S ALIVE!!!

They taught me self reliance, discipline, how to keep FOCUS, how not to allow distractions to interfere with what I am trying to accomplish, how KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, how to motivate others by EXAMPLE, how to establish a LIFE MODEL of Diet and Exercise because a person FEELS BETTER WHEN THEY ARE FIT!!!

They also taught me to QUESTION EVERYTHING!!! This is one thing I really thank them for along with the Genetic Gifts.

My Dad and Mom started a few businesses which are now fairy large companies which I help run and I know EVERYTHING about them. In fact there is not one single JOB that I have not done within these Companies and I hold multiple degrees.

But when I was just a kid at 11 years old my Dad and Mom paid to have a BOOTH at a very large Fair to help distribute information about our Companies and my Dad dropped me off to their fairgrounds and he had a local Lumbar Yard drop off 100 2''x 4''x 8' Foot lengths of wood along with a bundle of 50 Furring Strips a box of 8d....or 8 Penny Nails....a Roll of Heavy Clear Plastic....a Staple Gun with Staplers....a Framing Hammer....two kinds of shovels....a heavy mallet...5 1/2 thick pieces of 4'x 8' plywood....a box of Tacking Nails for the Furring Strips....2 large tubes of Silicon and a large calking gun....a roll or Green Astro-Turf....a Razor Knife and Blades....a Hand Saw...an Electrical Circular Saw....extension cords and pry-bar....and an already made 3 foot by 5 foot Company Logo Sign made out of a thin piece of aluminum.

My Dad drives me to this fairs grounds and looks at the lumbar on the ground and tools and thinks to himself and say's to me...."Get out of the car."

So I get out not thinking about anything and I notice my Dad is still in the car as he then turns the car around and backs it up so the driver's side window is facing me and my Dad say's to me....AND THIS WAS TOTALLY OUT OF THE BLUE.....as my Dad start's writing in pen on a note pad..."OK....I need you to build me a 24' by 16' Booth that has shelves...here...here and here....and the furring strips set up like this so we can put up our Company Background and Literature....and I needed the Company sign here....and I need you to make sure you tack up the plastic so there is an overhang and make sure the "ROOF"....angles down to the back so if it rain's over the next 5 day's the water will drain to the back as the front and sides I want opened but I want the front and sides to have canopy's....here...take this pen and pad and I will get one of our employees to drop you off a pencil and a latter in a half hour....so get it done for me...OK....and I will pick you up tonight when I get out of work."

    I S#!# YOU NOT!!!

I was all of 11 years old....I was a BIG KID as I was already 5 foot 11 and still growing.

I built that booth PERFECTLY with shelves and I borrowed some Nylon Rope and staked the framed walls down and I even had CANOPY'S that could be ADJUSTED and I came back the next day with a larger folding ladder and with 6 can's of 3 colors of SPRAY PAINT...Dark Blue, Light Blue and Light Green....and spray painted the Canopy's as the top was clear but it was under tree's but in the late afternoon the sun would be too strong so I spray pained the plastic.

The Plastic itself I stapled in sections as the plastic was a 4 foot roll that was unfolded to be 8 feet wide thus I would staple up the roof before I put it up....I got help from a few guy's who were standing around waiting for their people.....and I used the Silicon to prevent against leaks.

But he had faith in me to get it done...and I did.
