Thanks for that. Very helpful. As an FYI, i have never celebrated the holiday, but i have found someone very special and i tell him every single day. Instead of spending a stupid amount on gifts and overpriced dinner at a restaurant i was trying to come up with ideas to cook at home. I didn't ask for your bitter opinion of what the holiday is about. Enjoy your holiday alone.
Well, now that that's out of the way... this is a great idea for a thread. I love Valentine's Day. I've done a lot of different things for Valentine's Day, from a pink heart-shaped cake to lobster thermidor, but there isn't any one thing I like to do as a favorite. One idea I'd have would be for it to be something the two of you could make together, as a shared experience. It'd be so much more intimate, preparing it together and then sharing it. And congratulations on the new cause to celebrate the holiday! Makes it a lot more meaningful...
I like this. I think it depends on what his and your favorite meals are. If there's something you both love, that you can cook, go for that, and just try to make the presentation cute and romantic
Hi Jassierae, (welcome to the forum) I will likely just dine from the numerous boxes of chocolate I will receive ('cause I'm soooo special, lol). I find it gives me the extra energy needed for cleaning up the wave of rose petals strewn about the apartment. The process of snacking and cleaning will no doubt go on for days after V'Day ...between all the hugs and kisses of course. hahahaha, only teasing. Sorry I'm not helpful, but really just wanted to say, I appreciate your practical logic, and I wish yourself and your new love the very best. Happy Valentines Day to the both of you.
Anything that is chocolate will suit me just fine. I can make a meal out of chocolate candy...I really can. I just love chocolate. When I am with my husband any meal is a celebration and just gets better with chocolate. He is after all "MY VALENTINE!!"
I will cook dinner for the wife, like I do every night. I'm thinking a Rib eye steak, medium rare on the grill. A couple of Scallops, quick saute'd in some butter. Some Button mushrooms. And a nice herb couscous.
I asked my wife what she would like, she said Chicken Cutlets believe it or not. So,,,today I will be up to my fins in flour, breadcrumbs, egg, and chicken.... Perhaps some mashed potatoes, gravy, and cream corn as well. Oh and a small antipasto and Vino on the side.... I hope this satisfies her,,,I will give her a peck on the cheek too, but none of that mushy stuff........I could hurt my back and Golf season is getting close....
Why not mix the last two ideas....... Meet,,,,,,Lobster Cake..... People should eat More Lobster and.................................less flounder...>>>>>>>>
We don't tend to do anything 'special' for Valentine's Day (or St Dwynwen's Day, for that matter!) these days. We exchanged cards and a small gift (of the chocolate variety) this morning to mark it, but to be honest for food I had some instant noodles while she was in the bath, and she had a sandwich later!
Our mission is to make every day a Valentines Day. Lots of snuggles and kisses, and a bit of chocolate, that should do it.
I just made Bacon Wrapped Filet Minon w/ onion, Butter/ spiced rum Lobster w/ garlic, Chibatta cheese bread, and roasted pecan gorgonzolla salad.....she is now passed out and smiling.
