    Government promoted racism. Again!

    For Good or Bad
Government is the primary promoter of racism,
even by sensitizing children to race.

Forgotten is MLK, not the color of one's skin

but the content of one's mind.
    Dream on.

Hang on - so offering vaccinations to the people who have been inordinately compromised by the virus is racist? Did you have a problem with people over 60 being at the front of the line as well? With the rapid growth of the new variants, it is in everyone's best interests to vaccinate people as quickly as possible. If I were in charge, I would want the most vulnerable to be vaccinated first for the benefit of everyone. But sure - if you want to read racism into that, have at it.

The data for Vermont and nationally is clear: People of color are disproportionately struggling with Covid. In Vermont, Black people have come down with the virus at 3.8 times the rate of white people. Asian, Hispanic and Vermonters of other races also have a higher chance of getting the virus.

Although death data in Vermont is small, national data shows that people of color have died at significantly higher rates as well. As of this month, the Covid death toll is one out of every 825 white Americans, one in every 645 Black Americans and one in every 475 Indigenous Americans.

Experts, advocates and officials in Vermont agree that data gives greater urgency to getting the vaccine to people of color in the state. But they don’t all agree on when and how those efforts should occur.

The state has already begun some initiatives to help people of color who qualify for the vaccine to get it quickly and easily, including translation services, community outreach, and clinic locations and times held with Vermont’s communities of color in mind, said Tracy Dolan, deputy health commissioner.

The state has also held clinics specifically geared toward people of color who qualify for the vaccine, and has spread the news about those clinics through community partnerships, officials have said at press conferences.

“The reason why we want to prioritize communities of color right now is because [they’re] at much greater risk of infection and of transmitting to other people,” she said. “An approach that only focuses on delivery barriers doesn’t fully attend to concerns around equity.”
Vermont has promised equal vaccine access for people of color. Will it be enough? - VTDigger

I also found the following - indicating that ALL people will be eligible by April 19th. But hey, if you want to focus on your racism issue, your choice.

Nearly 40% of eligible residents, those 16 and older, have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine thus far, according to a state-maintained dashboard. Almost 90% of residents over the age of 70 have at least started the vaccination process under an age-banding approach that prioritizes those at the highest risk of severe illness from COVID-19.

So far, the state officials say they are confident the strategy is working.

The number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in the past month was nearly half of those seen in January when age-banding distribution efforts began. Seventy-nine people were admitted to a hospital for virus treatment during March.

The total number of known COVID-19 cases among those 70 or older has dropped by more than 50% during that same period.

Vaccine registration is scheduled to open for residents 40 and older Monday. By April 19, any Vermonters who are old enough to qualify for a shot will be able to register.

What "preferential treatment" are you talking about?

Yes. Offering vaccines to people due to them having the "correct" skin color IS indeed racist...

A meaningless gesture. There are few "Black, Indigenous or a person of color" in Vermont.

Do you seriously think that just being "Black, Indigenous or a person of color" is a risk factor for Covid?

No, probably there are more detailed reasons may be having a higher illness rate, but that broad classification of the is enough to help whatever issue is the reason for higher death rate.

Using race as a proxy for "more detailed reasons" opens up a can of worms that may lead to places that you don't want to go.

    Hardly.

If the issue was involved with sickle cell anemia, the prevalence of blacks and other races other than white are high enough make a reasonable starting point for single out whites.

No matter how much whining snow-flake white will carry on over there inclusive

That "example" doesn't make the slightest sense.

Why don't we stick to the topic and you tell me what "more detailed reasons" that you think are perfectly fine to be referred to as simply a black or minority issue that makes them more susceptible to Covid than whites?

Gee, how could someone think that the much higher rate of minorities dying from COVID might suggest there be some priority in giving vaccine? o_O

That wasn't the question, unless you are saying "minorities" is some sort of chronic medical condition. Now once again, why don't you tell me what "more detailed reasons" that you think are perfectly fine to be referred to as simply a black or minority issue that makes them more susceptible to Covid than whites? You must have a theory on that.

Ah, so you’re only for racism when it works in your favor.

    Got it.

Nice try. I detest racebaiters and the Democrat Party and their supporters are nothing more than racists.

Republicans are the least racist of all political parties in the U.S. The Democrat Party, the KKK party that began as a racist organization to keep blacks down lower than white people are still holding blacks and hispanics down in their big cities with socialist-welfare weapons. The sickest thing about this is that most of the large ghetto cities in the U.S. are run by black mayors, legislators and police chiefs who are all Democrats. The ones that aren't are run by Hispanics Democrats. It's a true sickness seeing welfare used as a weapon against blacks from digging themselves out of the ghetto violence, gangs, drugs and the destruction of the families. Charles Barkley has said recently that blacks are held back by the economics run by Democrats. Yet, he still votes for Democrats. It's truly a mental illness of Democrats.

If anyone can identify as black, then everyone should be covered.

The GOP is on a roll.
