Prove such to be the case.

From a legal standpoint, in the united states, it makes absolutely no difference. An individual is not legally required to demonstrate that they are in need of exercising their constitutional rights, for said exercising to be considered legal.

For the simple fact that alcoholic beverages are not a constitutional right, but rather a privilege bestowed by government.

A responsible gun owner buys ammo, and possibly, a gun better suited for the fallout from the crisis at hand.

Think about that statement and you will answer your own question.

My position that progressives will say whatever they think will increase their political power at any given moment, even if they contradict something they said 2 minutes prior, is well known.

A lot of that is think alike in order to fit in with the group that want to be part of, to them independent thinking doesn't make friends, you have to be liked and the more likes you get the more friends you have.

I would rather have friends who would disagree with me once in a while, it's a good way to learn to think diversely.

How does a "reasonable gun owner" know what is the appropriate gun for this emergency?

And does that give you an excuse to take advantage of another person?

By looking at his community and probable effect of the fallout, if any, on that community.
This will differ, of course, between people and communities, in both effect and reasonable estimation.

    Stakeholder theory.

What does the 9th amendment to the constitution say? Same logic can apply.

It's not illegal. It's not what I would do, but you know it is happening. Keeping a few weeks emergency supplies and the means to provide security for your family is a no brainer. These people are stoopid to depend on a government for their personal security and wait until an emergency to buy a gun. These people have voted themselves into background checks, waiting periods, training requirements, and gun and ammo shortages in the middle of an emergency. Meanwhile, the rest of us have navigated these laws and are not only not part of the problem, we are part of the solution because we are a deterrent to crime.

The theory holds no relevance to the current discussion at hand.

It holds that the enumeration of certain constitutional rights cannot be used as a legal or moral basis to justify the denying or disparaging of other constitutional rights. Meaning the right of free assembly cannot be used as a basis to prohibit the legal purchase and ownership or firearms, among other such hypothetical examples.

However the ninth amendment of the united states constitution holds absolutely no relevance to the position presented on the part of yourself, suggesting that individuals should be required to prove why the exercising of their constitutional rights in the manner they see fit is legally justified.

Years back I used to go to a public range at Markham Park near Weston Florida, well one fine day a so called instructor, and a husband and wife team where there to learn how to protect their sail boat using a shotgun and a Ruger Mini-14.

The OM wasn't too bad, but I heard her comment to him "you know I hate guns, isn't there a better way for us to be safe," now we are talking sailing out on the sea, think no phone, except maybe satellite and certainly no 911 to call, and she wants a better way to protect themselves.

Yea right when seconds count, the Coast Guard/U.S. Navy are only days away.

None the less the "instructor" has both of them on the line, not just one at a time, big mistake, first was the shotgun, a really nice Mossberg stainless steel 500A, the OM did pretty good, she, well I was going to interrupt and remind her to get that gun tighter into her shoulder, but put a lid on it, they didn't hire me, they hired him, it kicked her like badly, hurt her shoulder badly so forget the shotgun, she wanted no part of that thing.

Then it is Mini-14 time, instructor breaks rule 1, he moves the shotgun from the line while hot, to the backbench, and tries to move the Ruger to the front line, one of the RO's lets him know don't do that again, when the line is hot all muzzles point "down range," key word "down range."

Line go's safe things are swapped, a RO decides to check closely that the Mini-14 is unloaded and reminds the instructor, do not load any firearms until the line is hot.

Well wifey takes a few shots with the Ruger and seems to like it, she then turns to the instructor to ask a question in the process points the Mini-14 at me, I see this and just as I am about to move another RO, an older ex-Marine, with no sense of humor when it comes to safety, yells at her "get that muzzle down range NOW!

Instead she pulls the trigger, the bullet went through a 4" pipe supporting the roof, in the process one of my angels deflected it a few degrees and it went just left of my left arm, parallel to the firing line, and hit a side berm over in the police range, getting the attention of some deputies practicing over there, part of the jacket was stripped off the bullet and lodged in my forehead, I really wasn't hurt, but by the blood running down my face it looked I had been shot in the head.

She panicked, I lost it and gave her a good drumming down, then the RO went up one side of her and down the other, he turned and ripped the instructor a new one, the line was immediately called safe, I was walked into the range office, as well the trio, I advised the range manager I was fine, she insisted in calling 911 and having EMS check me out, BSO was summoned to take a report, the range is county owned and it was follow procedure time, CYA.

While we where separated in two different rooms, the deputy with his Sergeant standing by asked me if I wanted to press charges against her for shooting at me, I politely asked what charges did he have in mind, his answer was culpable negligence, I politely asked "shouldn't the instructor be charged with that" as he was in charge of her when she made that mistake, they pondered that idea agreed and decided to charge both of them with culpable negligence.

The instructor and the wife where given a NTA's and sent on their way, the MIni-14 was seized as evidence.

I did insist on being provided a copy of the instructors ID and credentials, he didn't like that idea, the deputy advised him he had no choice and the range manager made photocopies and handed them to me.

I was able to get his credentials revoked by the NRA.

The wife and the instructor both pleaded nolo, she was fined $450 + court costs, the instructor received the same fine and was ordered to pay something like $1400 for rolling EMS to put a band-aid on my forehead.

I never went back to the Markham Park range ever again, though I have worked behind it where the S.E. SLERS site and the FAA TDWR are located.

Wow! You dodged a bullet that day! I have zero teaching credentials, but I have helped many friends learn to shoot. They have to go through an orientation before I let them touch a gun.

When I taught my 12 year old daughter how to shoot, I told her that it was okay to be exited after a good shot. All I ask is that she get her finger off the trigger, clear the gun, and set it down first. She hit a balloon with a 44 mag at 100 years, calmly removed the magazine, cleared the chamber, set it down, and did a short victory dance.

I have seen people at the range do the same dance with the gun in hand.

No one is taking advantage of anyone, are you really that misunderstanding of the market?
