When UN observers came to observe our elections, one of their main surprises was that voters didn't have to show ID. https://foreignpolicy.com/2012/11/0...ls-amazed-by-trust-based-u-s-voting-system-2/
I vote mostly from a residue of obligation from my youth, when I was under the delusion that it mattered. I get the same dismissive attitude from sports fans. They think how their team performs matters and don't want to consider that a football or basketball game is unimportant or that their commitment to their team is irrelevant.
I live in a small town (which is a wonderful way to live, BTW), and I've seen many municipal elections go down to less than twenty votes. A very good friend of mine lost the Republican primary for a County Council by 16 votes.
Voting is a complete joke EXCEPT in relation to local/state referendums. And even then, it's rare that anything but oligarchic interests are being pushed and thus must be opposed. And even then, the oligarchy gets its way sooner rather than later. If you don't understand this, you may not belong here.
The problem is, there's no such thing as voting. (Except on referendum.) The entire process is an utter farce up/down/sideways.
No one!!! Pssssssssssssssssssssssst. Voting (except referendum voting, and often then) is a waste of time.
You don't even want to know what the Dems did JUST in Brooklyn. Seriously - you clearly don't want to know.
That kind of thinking!!! Folks with attitudes!!!!! Naaaaaaaaaaaaw. People with "attitudes like that" are a repository of human sanity.
Politicians give the time of day to those who can help them gain/maintain power & wealth. And only for so long as they can. I'd say they're like muggers, but muggers have more character; they're a lot more honest.
