As if you had an credence or speak for the GOP.

Now back to your issue, why if someone can show ID to register and it is not a violation of their rights to require them to do so that they then cannot show ID to vote and would violate their right to do so. Still waiting for you to square that circle you created.

If that was true then why didn't they just get ID in the first place? It's coming to all 50 states, it's just a matter of time.

You said........

"it's called a backlash, an unintended consequence of underhanded tactics by the gop"

I said...............................

"If that was true then why didn't they just get ID in the first place? It's coming to all 50 states, it's just a matter of time."

Meaning if the folks that voted as backlash, VOTED, They must have had to get ID to do so. Why didn't they just do that in the first place, moreover they were ABLE to get ID. You're just proving my point, they can and will get ID if they're forced to in order to vote if they want to.

Crawford v. Marion County Election Board, 553 U.S. 181 (2008), is a United States Supreme Court case holding that an Indiana law requiring voters to provide photo IDs did not violate the Constitution of the United States.

In a 6-3 decision in 2008, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the photo ID requirement, finding it closely related to Indiana's legitimate state interest in preventing voter fraud, modernizing elections, and safeguarding voter confidence.

Eventually it will become law in all 50 states.

Representative of the populous, of their wishes for the direction of the country of which they are a part of. Do you not agree? Is such not a given?

If voters are uninformed elections are still representative of their wishes to an extent, its just that what such voters wish for election-wise is the result of a state of being uninformed. Again, this is a problem, but again, the solution is not to discourage such voters or make it harder for them to vote, the solution is to educate them.

If we want the election results to be as representative of the populous as possible, we should both want and encourage more people to become educated on the matters and to vote, at least anyone who truly believes in democracy and democratic principals should. No one here ever suggested one could make people do these things (though some countries appear to try their best) but we should encourage it,
and there is plenty we can do to make do so by informing voters and making voting more accessible to more people.

It's called a ridiculous data set.
Comparing minority voter turnout between 2006 and 2010, is a worthless piece of data for gauging the effect of voter ID laws..
Because in 2008 you had massive registration of minorities energized by the candidacy of Barack Obama.
Any effect of voter ID laws is buried by the effect of the Obama campaign in 2008.

Requiring a separate ID to vote is making it harder to vote.

I'd sympathize more with voter ID laws if they accepted things like driver's licenses or if the separate ID was free.

Without either of those conditions, that is making it harder for the poor to vote.

here's what a gop leader says:

“You can say what you like, but there is no voter fraud. How can it be widespread and undetected?”

What does Colin Powell know about it? Foreign policy/defense is his playground.

If simply making an effort to catch fraudulent voters results in no arrests because the fraudulent voters were intimidated and laid low that is a valid approach to mitigating the problem.

That the Justice Dept - led by the Democratic (sic) Party - stifles the state's attempt to ensure a clean voter role is equally a suppression of voter intent.

No, I didn't miss that but read it earlier today. Though it does seem that you might have missed some intent in the message.
