Now, Ziggy has raised an issue (indirectly), that has nothing to do with carbon Tax debate. WA has pushed along with Victoria to make changes to the HFE fund. That is, to change it to a per capita rated system, rather than the current form. States like NT can not really afford this as obviously they have a small population base. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/na...lions-off-the-nt/story-fndo486p-1226423832361 Now this is obviously, Media sensationalism, as Ziggy so handly supplied better reference for the changes they are asking for. http://www.gstdistributionreview.gov.au/content/submissions/issues_paper/vic_gov.pdf But it still stands to reason that NT will be the biggest looser. What thoughts have anybody?
Funding has to be equitable not equal. I'm not sure how Barnett believes that NT will receive the same money based on per capita basis, when other factors have been considered in the distribution of funds currently. Simpler, doesn't necessarily mean fairer. We are still one nation and one people. I wonder if Barnett has considered nationhood? That's my thought anyway
Well that is the point isn't it? Is it equitable? NT consider it will have a 2.2 Billion lose to their economy, which they admitt will not actually break their economy. Is this simply just the media sensationalism or do they really have a problem,
Nothing changes.... The GST carveup replaced the old Premiers Conference, where all the Premiers went cap in hand and whinged for as much as they could get in handouts...the result was always the same, a Premier here and a Premier there whinging because they didnt get enough.... Nothing changes...only place names, names and dates to protect the grubby snouts in troughs.....
