So who should take the loss? Me or Wal Mart? I don't see why this is any different from accepting EBT cards in a normal situation. Whether balances are working properly or you see a crazy extravaganza like this, food is still being purchased with stolen money that was obtained under the threat of violence. EBT cards are funded by theft.

 

Poor people are a major reason every country eventually fails .

 

Of course dems are repulsed by the untermensch but as clients of the liberal welfare state they really can't do without them.

So they tolerate them, at arm's length (the way a high priced lawyer tolerates some scum bag criminal) and continue to fund the people that can't seem to do much for themselves. That's unhealthy.

 

It's going to be a tricky situation, and I can't wait to see what happens.

On a personal level, I am very upset and angry at what all of these people with EBT cards did.

But I have to admit, if I were in that situation, I would have been very tempted, at the very least, to do the same. It's just that 'greed' mentality that human-kind in general has. The main thing stopping me would be the fear of repraisal and going to jail. Wonder if that is what will happen?

I'll wait to see who pays for the goods.

 

Walmart should eat the cost if one needs to.
But those who exceeded their limit, will just have to go and do without until they get down to their normal limit. If they bought extra then that should last them until their balance is back in order.

 

It demonstrates why these government welfare programs just don't work.. So many people who rely on them are greedy ********s who will take whatever they can get with no concern about where it's coming from.

I say their future EBT benefits should be docked until the exorbitant amounts they charged to those cards during that little spree are repaid.

 

Liberal elites put walls around their communities not around the polls. Just saying......

A good point. Those whom went over the limit will need to wait until they are back under the limit.

I wonder if they will try to sell the things they bought to make a profit? It may mean cheap items for sale. I wonder what most of these people bought?

~90 million people aren't working, ~48 million on food stamps, and the left would prefer they never be able to provide for themselves.

Makes me want to become a doomsday prepper.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but each of these Cards is specific to the person holding it correct? And I would hope that each card is attached to a database signifying how much is spent on the card per month...?

So, why not just notify each person who over spent, and let them know that the funds they spent can either be paid off, or deducted from future months until refunded.

It's not free money.

 

Sounds nice, but most of these people are receiving food stamps for a reason.... why do you want people to starve?

 

I don't. But if you only have so much money, and someone takes more then allocated, then that extra has to come from somewhere. Either from another persons mouth, or the tax payers wallet. I am all for people getting assistance where needed, but it's not a free ride.

 

It's theft, plain and simple. Every single person who went on a "spending spree" should be prosecuted and forced to pay restitution in the amount over their limit they spent.

If I give someone my debit card and tell them they can take out $100 and they I'm torn take it $200 they have, in fact, stolen $100 dollars from me. This is the same thing. These people knew what their limits were and decided to take advantage of the situation when the opportunity arose. They made the decision to exceed the known limits on the card.

Wal-Mart should also be held accountable because employees informed them of the problem and allowed the continued acceptance of the ebt card.

I'm reading on some message boards their thinking of prosecuting these people, that is not their faults the benefits were not capped. That's ridiculous that they would hold them accountable for taking advantage of benefits that were not enough to begin with.

 

I agree. It's like any other benefit. If you knowingly receive more than you are allocated, you have to pay it back, often with associated penalties.

One problem with this is that this will affect children who had nothing to do with it.

If I relied on government assistance to eat, I'd probably panic too. Like the police said, it's a human reaction.

 

A lot of people seem to not have taken American history.

At the end of the 19th century the free market was in full swing, and America's large cities were filled with such squalor that a lot of neighborhoods were not safe even in daylight. Thats what happens when a large portion of the populous doesn't know where their next meal is coming from.
