But you are still paying more because you may never use it

How about all those countries where people do have strict gun control but have a healthier democracy than America I,e UK Aus, NZ etc etc etc

Then I would take a long long look at those countries where an armed populace rose up against the government eg Somalia, Mali etc
    https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2023/p...s-threaten-public-health-safety-and-democracy
There is a long step between this ideal of marching down a road with a rifle and indiscriminate gunfire in the streets

Whose problem is that and why do you care?

Just pointing out real logic. It is like buying “specials” at a supermarket- they aren’t really cost saving if you either have to throw 50% out or end up storing something you will never use

Sounds like you;re tying to claim a necessary relationship between the two?
One you know you cannot demonstrate to exist.

Allow me to point out reality:
Ammunition has a 100+ year shelf life if stored properly, and the value only goes up - if my grandkids don't use it, my great grandkids can.
And it is entirely possible it will someday be the only currency that matters.
    Your "real logic" is unsound.

Sorry I just got a mental image of a “man cave” filled to the roof with boxes of unused ammunition gathering cobwebs and mouse droppings

All this tells me is you have no meaningful response.

cultural loathing has much to do with the anti gun movement's jihad against gun ownership. As NR noted in an article several years ago-the NRA is a totem for a group almost every leftwing organization sees as their enemy-conservative Upper Middle class Christian Straight white males.

none of the ammo my grandfather left my father went unused.
none of the ammo my father left me has been unused.
my son is a world class shooter. I expect he will inherit lots of ammo
I don't expect it to go unused

I would seriously question if you have a better democracy than the US but I guess we will see how things go in the long run. Whatever you have is only because the US, a county you like to bash, provided military assistance in WWII.
