I noticed this today. A Train is going down the tracks smoothly. Suddenly you hear a louder noise. Check this out. I have two rail stories to tell you all. 1. I was then in the 6th grade and was walking down some railroad tracks with my siblings. Mary my youngest sister was dragging behind us quite a bit. One of us noticed a train was behind her that would have killed her. Shouting at her to get off did not work. I had to run as fast as a 6th grader can run trying to reach her first. I managed to beat the train and grabbed her and we both tumbled off the side of the tracks down a slope. I imagine the train crew saw her but I do not recall the train braking to avoid hitting her. 2. A kid I knew from grade school lost his mom to a train at a crossing. I have no clues of all the facts but she was in a car and got hit by a train. 3. Later years when this happened. A train was on the same track I had been on when it derailed. It caught fire and did damage to the steel bridge it crossed. This map shows where the train derailed and about half a mile west was where I got my sister to safety. https://www.google.com/maps/place/I...74268342e4cbd!8m2!3d37.6271986!4d-122.1067788 The derailing I spoke of first was at Kansas City, MO.
