Yes. Cases in Italy, plus France, Spain, and Germany are exploding. The EU has no travel restrictions so all EU countries can travel back and forth (except Italy which is locked down). The UK isn't part of the EU and only has 459 cases.

He restricted certain types of travelers while allowing others and no Democrat called it a racist over-reaction.

 

The virus is already here in greater numbers though. So why is stopping all travel from there supposed to help?

There is a reason that the World Health Organization, long ago, said that it is improper to name any virus after a location. It implies that the location is at fault or that it should be demonized.

But speaking of China, did anyone else notice that he said almost nothing about China? He took aim at Europe, but almost nothing for China. I saw reports that two of his top aides were really trying to push him to make that a talking point.

But the NBA just (temporarily) suspended the rest of the season.

I agre except we exempted the uk for some strange reason. Now , how is the uk going to address a massive I flux of people trying to beat the Friday deadline.

And nothing on the lack of testing. I give trump credit for doing a complete 180 (like someone up thread said "nothingburger to travel ban" in half a day). But the lack of testing is a crisis within a crisis.

The Spanish Flu was from Spain and no one demonized the Spanish.

Montezuma's Revenge starts in Mexico...but that doesn't demonize Mexicans.

The Wuhan Sniffles are from China, most likely brought back home predominately by Chinese-Americans...and no one is demonizing Chinese people. China didn't do it on purpose, and they didn't do it because of their race or nationality. All that is coincidental to the fact that the virus started in China.

The UK is doing a fabulous job containing the virus so far. Must be nice to be in a sovereign nation on an island.

Their ability to deal with a pandemic like this is rated second in the world only after the U.S. Wouldn't be surprised if they restricted Americans from flying to their country!
