Sorry, that may have been a bit mean of me.

But I am sick of Trumpbots freaking out simply because a few NFL players kneel during the national anthem.

America is about freedom, NOT conformity.

I don't even agree with why the NFL players appear to be kneeling. But because they are hurting no one and people like you try and stop them, then I will fight on the side of freedom of expression.

And please don't tell me Trumpbots are not trying to stop them. They DEFINITELY are...whether they admit it or not.
Boycotting something in protest I can respect. But trying to force others - who are hurting no one else - to conform to your standards I cannot.

I didnt mind because I consider politics to be a contact sport

As for the players the reason they kneel is to offend those of us who are watching and so get out attention for their complaints

Because they stupidly believe that they are idols who can get away with anything

The protest has been a net loss for the NFL

So you are not the "patriot" you make yourself out to be. It's the flag ceremony and instead of paying attention you were seeking out others who weren't. LOL

If anything, they communicated in body language but not speech.(And even then, that implies that I recognize that their action means what they think it means. And obviously as you can tell from my prior post: I don't recognize it as a 'protest'. I recognize it as an ' F U'.)

They're protesting something(police brutality) that's not even statistically relevant regardless of the races, and much less so for African Americans/minorities. For me to recognize a protest(as stupid as I find them to be), it has to be for a worthwhile cause.

This isn't it. This is called howling at the wind. And if they weren't disrespecting the flag, I'd have at it. But they are, and so I'm equally in my right to condemn their stupidity.

Link to a source for this 'contract' with the military, please. I had not heard this argument before.

Thank you for posting - I LOVE that eagle! :clapping:

But as I thought, no one is kneeling.

We see this so differently. When I think about disrespect of the flag, I think of desecration. Ripping, burning, spitting, urinating, turning it into underwear. I don't think about kneeling on a knee, fifty feet from it at all. My concern with many public protests is disrespecting the audience by distracting or making noise or shouting, stuff that really interferes with the actual performance that people came to watch and the singers/band worked hard to perfect. You can listen to that anthem, hear every single note, see the performers as they do their work and these men are doing absolutely nothing to inhibit your enjoyment. That to me is a very respectful way to protest.

Nobody needs to be offended, or bothered by these guys who rather discreetly bend down in such a way that all you have to do is look at either the flag or the band or the singer, and the problem - literally isn't one.

I stand up when the anthem is played, and I understand that this form of protest on the job is not a 'right' and that employers can discipline political speech on company time, in company uniform and on company property but I sure don't see this huge offense so many others do.

Its a nothing burger to me.

Thanks, This one is even better sourced.https://www.truthdig.com/articles/pentagon-paid-nfl-displays-patriotism/

This sure complicates things. If you have to purchase patriotism and you turn the national anthem and flag into a 'brand placement' opportunity for military or national guard, you have to wonder who disrespected the flag first. Its sure looks pathetic at best.

On the other hand, it is the duty of every business to fulfill each and every obligation under a contract, including enforcing compliance by employees.

I have to laugh at all the people who are stopping watching the nfl because the black players have things they want to call attention to.

What are you going to watch now? Golf? NASCAR? Football is pretty unique in being a sport where people ram into each other with hard hits. They hit each other so hard they hurt themselves pretty good. The only places you have hits like that are fighting sports and you all left boxing because the great white hope never came. How long is it going to be before the black fighters in the mma start making you angry because they win too much?

You like the football players when the poor black ones were getting injured for your amusement, but if they make a political point you run off crying? I hate to say it, but I think the nfl can take the hit. What are you going to do stop playing fantasy football and watching the games? What are you going to do?

You liked watching it and cheering for the team's and hits. There just is not another entertainment venue like it. You will come back because simply you just cannot get American football from other sports. Enjoy the golf channel. I hear tiger woods has scrapped out so it is all white guys again. It is boring as watching paint, but that is all that is left.

And isn't that the beauty of humanity? That we can see things differently. Of course, it also depends on how those people react to those differences. There's civil discourse, and then there's uncivil madness. I try my best to maintain discourse and refrain from the madness. That said, I can see your perspective: It's in what a person chooses to see. You can choose to see the protests and be either encouraged or discouraged by them. Or you can choose to ignore them and enjoy the sport.

There's perfect validity in what you're saying. So allow me to give another perspective: When you do see them kneel down, you can't help but be disgusted by it. As I said: The reason is absolutely superficial. If there really were a "inherent systematic racism" problem, it wouldn't be relegated to some of the fringe percentages. We'd see such a mass incarceration rate like 60-70% of Blacks(or something like that, etc.)

Had they gone to protest 'black poverty', or something like that. That would have been absolutely wonderful, awe-inspiring. Even better if they addressed all poverty. Instead, they wanted to protest something that is statistically on the fringe. Something that brought conflict to the country(flag and law enforcement) for no inherent reason whatsoever.

I don't dislike them as people, as humans, etc. I just fundamentally disagree with their reason.

The only reason they do it is to get a rise out of people; ignore them and eventually they'll go away.

You’re telling this to someone who posted on a public forum just to say he turned off the game because he objected to their protest? :)

I have as much right to protest the black players who are insulting the flag as the players have
