“Our disrespect for wild animals and our disrespect for farmed animals has created this situation where disease can spill over to infect human beings.

“If we do not do things differently, we are finished.

“We can’t go on very much longer like this.”

She called for an end to factory farming and to stop destroying natural habitats.

Dr Goodall added: “We have come to a turning point in our relationship with the natural world.

“One of the lessons learnt from this crisis is that we must change our ways.

The right wing, however, says we MUSt get BACK TO NORMAL. Normal choking out blacks, normal factory farming, normal slaughterhouses. Normal shaking hands. normal ignoring climate and environmental degradation, and most importantly, NORMAL economic expansion.

The right wing is literally endangering mankind, and ushering in the apocalypse. We will have a long time, in combatting the time bombs Trump has installed. The ugly inhumane character of Trump, is ignored, so that the right wing can install these timebombs.

The right wing will ignore all foreign calamity, and leave vulnerable people to cut down forests, kill bush meat and whatever else they need to do to keep alive. We will bring bacfk coal, as that is what the right wing wants. We will kill all possible alternative energies, as good ole fashion energy is used for campaigning.

The right wing, and their partners, the conservatives, in insisting on things being like they expected, when they grew up, will see us incapable of change.

Right wingery is a disease of mankind. It will in the long run extinct us. The right wing says, they are doing this, and doing that, FOR THEIR CHILDREN, as if their wanting to get haircuts, is REALLY for little johnny, when they ignore the REAL THREATS.

Talking out of one side of their mouth. The truth is, right wingers dont give a **** about the children. WE are on the brink of cascading effects we will not be able to control. The changes we have made thus far, are miniscule, and short lived, and the right wing has already warned us, that it will SURELY result in civil war.

Either we allow the right wing to dictate our human lifestyle, or they will unleash fire and brimstone upon us.

Jane lives in a very special myopic world that doesn't have much interaction with reality. It's a shame to see her commenting on things that clearly she both doesn't and cannot understand.

If she was truly honest, she'd be asking her benefactors why they invested so much in the weaponization of viruses to begin with. Perhaps her ire or anger would be better suited going after those folks. But, her agenda doesn't allow her to actually take those folks to task.

How about this. Why not just stop researching virus weaponization altogether. I'm sure she likes here good arugela salad as much as the next liberal elite person does. And yet, she's not concerned a whit about how that get's to her table...

These people like to preach problems, but never solutions.
Ending factory farming would be great, but how are we gonna eat meat then? Are we gonna go back to being hunter/gatherers? That would be great and all but that died once agriculture took over the world so there is really no going back now.
"choking out blacks" is "normal" for right wingers? I don't know man, sounds like a pathetic attempt at race baiting to me. You are lucky the mods here are lenient, on any other forum you'd be banned.
You wanna whine about the environment? Did you trade your car in for a horse? Did you refuse to fly in an airplane anymore? I bet you probably don't even recycle! Fossil fuels are used in the production of solar panels BTW (not that democrats usually research stuff before complaining about it). I agree the "right" as a whole could use a re-education on environmental issues. So whats your solution to coal and carbon emissions? We have to drive around on bicycles while your lefty lords and masters use fuel sucking private jets to go fly around and preach about the environment? If the world is ready, so am I! Let's scrap cars and go back to horse and buggy. I'm 100% game for this!

LOL... Sorry, that isn't what I wrote, was it. There was no accusation about her specifically. I wrote, her "benefactors". There, now you understand the difference.

She's right....that's why these open-air markets in places like China, San Fran, and major liberal cites across the country is wrong....same with this push for back door chickens you see in urban areas.

Liberals have no respect for livestock, nor do they have a clue what they are doing when it comes to raising them...hence the interspecies transmittion of virus etc.

I believe you're right. Plenty to learn from them about Democrat behavior. Too bad she's misapplied it.

These twenty-nanoseconds-to-midnight jokers are hysterics deserving of being wrapped in wet sheets and stuffed into padded cells.

We're now entering the age where these claims deserve the ridicule they get. The oceans will not consume our planet. The Sun causes temperature fluctuations, not man. The end of the world may be nigh, from islamic terrorists finally getting that uranium Iran is cooking up for Yom Kippur...or maybe not. We screwed with cyclotrons before and this time it may be even better.

Watch Mecca melt, all by their own doing, maybe. Of course CNN will blame Trump.

Well, some things can and have been done. There is no need for medicated feed for livestock. Unless you have sick animals. This just increases the possibility of bacteria become resistant to antibiotics. I know this has been done in my State and it makes sense.

I live in a farming area where hairy-legged harridans and demasculinized other libs out of Ann Arbor are absolutely aghast to find that cows produce manure. My favorite story is that on the day I joined the Navy back in 1967, our bus left Detroit for Great Lakes and we got out on I-94 westbound. Suddenly there was a panicked black voice: "WHAT THE **** IS THAT!?!?!"

    A single cow.

It's such news to them that animals have different mandates. Libs completely lose it and fire off crazygrams to the editors of the very papers they wouldn't support or give support for advertisers who do pay ads there. For liberals it's to hell as well with the cows, the farmer, milk-hauler, the processors and transporters and packagers.

Libs think they can control nature. I'll have a slice of self-healing ozone layer and a side order of global cooling. Put it on the liberals' tab.

I'm quite a radical ecologist even if I must have the honesty to says that I fail to live at the ecological standart I would like. I share with J.Goodall that we go toward a disaster. I don't believe in the crap like "don't have children" however.

I don't see any easy solution. The most ecological energies and materials are the one that you spare. I suppose a part of the solution would also to go live more in the countryside rather huge cities.
It's not easy to change deeply. And even part of the solution have its own problems : if more people live to the countryside, what we do with the huge cities left, if we live more to the countryside, how do we finance that, and the fact to go live in the countryside would create pollution also.

That's the problem, you will find plenty of people very willing to see the government to change, but not that willing to change their own habits. Wanting the rest of the world to change is easy, changing yourself is hard.

I must admit that on that level, I quite admire Amish and Memomnites.

Nothing is more alarming than uneducated people passing judgement on someone as learned as Goodall.

It's part of the anti-intellectual attitude ushered in when Shrub was sold to Americans as being a better presidential candidate due to folks preferring to have a beer with him as opposed to his opponent. Culminating in an unqualified moron like Trump, who does not read, surrounding himself with fellow, unqualified morons. Such as...........

Here are the qualifications of all 13 people who served as Secretary of Energy before Rick Perry

I totally hear you about the "wanting the rest of the world to change" thing. Where I live, in a condo complex in NJ, the recycle rules are separate plastic/glass/aluminum and cardboard. The cardboard boxes need to be broken down so they are flat and then there is some big shed we put it all in that gets picked up every week. When I go to that shed I see bags with all 3 mixed together and tons of full boxes. Maybe 3 other people in this complex follow the rules and I'm pretty sure their laziness has nothing to do with their political affiliation.

Take the folks on the government dole, seal them up in hazmat suits, and they can sort through the recyclables. At least they will be contributing to society. Or would it be too inhumane to actually ask them to work?

Right in some respects - Don't know much about Jane's positions .. but there is some truth here.

Wrong. Blue is now the anti Environment Party

Wrong - don't care what Jane's interaction with reality is ..some of the above commentary is sound.

Once you understand why Blue is now the anti Environment side .. all will become clear :)

Environmental threats .. in order of significance - are as follows 1) Pollution of the Oceans 2) Industrialization of the the 5 Billion people who are not yet industrialized. 3) Population Growth 4) CO2 .. and there are interconnections of course .. but that is the risk order that is not debated in serious circles.

Blue freaked out on Moore .. who touches on this in his latest production. I have been harping on this for 2 decades ... countless posts on here.

Not building the Keystone (and pipelines in North America in general) harms the environment.. and our economic / energy security. It increases global pollution and incentivizes industrialization of non industrialized nations.

    4) Not building the Keystone does not change the CO2 equation by one drop of oil - in the grand equations. 40% of oil to US refineries comes from 70 different nations .. we either get it from Canada .. or we get it from "Nigeria". No one is going to drive less or more on the basis of either .. The only difference is where the product comes from. One is the high pollution route .. the other is the low pollution route.. and Yes . I am a subject matter expert.

Yeah, I wonder how Easter Islanders felt, when the last tree was chopped down. Did they realize that it was going to be their doom? Or did they make rationalizations of why it couldn't be helped and it wasn't going to be a problem?

In any case, humans rarely seem to learn from history.
