No one knows any more. That body has long been dead. Maybe we need to wait for the next great war to dismantle that shameful and useless organization.
I think the best thing we could do with the UN is bulldoze it, then turn it into a parking lot, mall, or a golf course; something useful. The next problem would be what to do with all those diplomats who would be out of a job. There's already enough prostitutes in New York as it is, and I'm not sure the local economy can support any more.
The UN was established to help those who came to call themselves Israeli. They don't need it anymore.
I believe it was established as a framework towards a one world government. You only need to look at the founders of the organisation, the likes of the Rockefeller's to know the type of role the organisation would play. Supposedly founded to: -Promote world peace -Promote dialogue between countries -To prevent wars. It has failed on ALL three counts. If there is a 3rd major war, you can expect to see two things happen: -UN is dismantled and a new organisation is formed that will take over the role, just like UN took over League of Nations. or... -The UN will be given unbridled and unrivaled power, to really enforce world "peace"...the only way the elite know how.
They already have this power, the problem is they never have a consensus, even on genocides like Darfur or Rwanda, let alone more controversial situations. And they don't have military power to enforce whatever half-a$sed useless, watered-down compromise decisions/resolutions they once in a blue moon pass. Guess what, all these UN demagogues and hypocrites (aka UN members) love to run their foul self-serving mouths off, they just don't love to commit money and/or troops when and where it matters. For these two reasons alone (and there are hundreds other reasons) an international body like the UN will never work. The US, Russia and China will always be bickering, Sudan will always to be voted a member in good standing of the UN Human rights council, Iran will keep chairing the Women's rights forum...
The UN was begun as a war organization, and its charter is a blue print for war. All Members shall give the United Nations every assistance in any action it takes in accordance with the present Charter, and shall refrain from giving assistance to any state against which the United Nations is taking preventive or enforcement action. The Organization shall ensure that states which are not Members of the United Nations act in accordance with these Principles so far as may be necessary for the maintenance of international peace and security. Peace to the creators of the Atlantic Charter and UN Charter is the absence of opposition to their oppression. Thus "the Purposes of the United Nations" is to crush all opposition to the agenda of the Communists et al that made the UN charter. Remember Roosevelt, saying, "I hate war. Even my dog hates war."? He was a liar. He actively promoted war along with Churchill and declared war on Germany and Japan in the Atlantic Charter he and Church-ill made.
