Nowadays, the world seems to be fanatic about the reconciliation between Islam and modernisation. However, in this debate people often confuse modernisation with westernization... I'll try to lays out the differences. First of all, on the whole international relationships, we can consider that today, we are starting civilisation conflict area. At the end of the wold war, Fukyama, a philisopher, economist and a research worker in politic science advocated the end of History because of the end of conflicts from differences of opinions.Nevertheless, what he said is not exactly true. According to Huntington, conflicts are now provocated by the clash of civilizations... Today, we can make out 9 differents civilizations. Moreover, it's necessary to note that civilizations are based on religions and languages. Furthermore, international agreements are established between states from the same civilization (in a general point of view)... For instance, we can quote MERCOSUR, ALENA Maghreb Union etc...International solidarity is now the consequence of nationals identities. At the beginning of the XX century, the Occident start to spread out his values and his political model through colonies, scientifics and technicals progresses. This permited to the other civilizations to modernize themselves. However, people don't loose their cultures and values even if they take on a democratic political system. In that way, westernization and modernisation are two words wich are really differents. Population can get transformed but they don't westernize society. On the contrary, the process of modernisation strenghten differences and is at the origin of claims. That's how nationalism gets more and more an important place.
