Great song, and the original by Thin Lizzy isn't so bad either. I think I might prefer the Metallica version though. It just rocks more.

my favorite from PH-the lyrics are hilarious

I came home to an empty flat
she left me a note and had taken the cat

most of the best Traffic songs featured the awesome singing of Steve Winwood. this one has Dave Mason on lead vocals though. One of the greatest bands of the 70s.

Procol Harum's biggest hit was A WHITER SHADE OF PALE-its most famous member was former lead guitarist ROBIN TROWER whose solo album "Bridge of Sighs" is considered a seminal guitar work from the mid 1970s

its one of the great rock classics

now this is what I consider one of the greatest improvised live jams in history though there are several great versions of this as well as this one. Phil Lesh's bass work on this is a thing of beauty. some other versions have less of the organ from PP though. This is why the GD was one of the greatest-if not the all time best-live acts ever.

They did all sorts of covers from Tangled Up in Blues by Dylan to Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds by the Beatles. One of their greatest covers was Bonnie Dobson's Morning Dew which Duane and Gregg Allman also did a brilliant cover of

This version comes from the famous Cornell U Barton Hall show my senior year in HS. I saw this tour a few months later at New Haven in September-people who went to both said the NH show was as good but I have never seen (or heard) a good tape of it.

Sugar Magnolia is one of those dead songs non Deadheads all know and like. one of Bob's better tunes.

my favorite Dead tune-one that many non dead heads love is this one

this is the shorter studio version from "Mars Hotel"... in concert, its often part of "Scarlet fire" meaning Scarlet begonias and Fire on the Mountain combined. some wonderful Garcia guitar work near the end

Very nice. I don't know if I've ever heard that one before either. :) I have heard this one before though. It's pretty good. Kind of folksy.

Jane's Addiction did a very interesting version of Ripple. I don't know if its a favorite of mine so I won't post it here.

I don't want to fill this up right now so I will wait for others to add their favorites before I unleash some Jethro Tull and Led Zep on them!
