happy 82nd to Phil Lesh-the Grateful Dead's bassist. In the early days of the Dead, Phil did lots of the lead vocals-sadly he lost his voice for years.

this is one of his early leads

one of his last and best known before he started having issues with his voice-he wouldn't do a lead again until 1985

and his tour de force on the bass-a song he wrote with the lyricist Robert Hunter

Maybe a mysterious starling would be more soothing?

Incidentally, I thought of this song when you posted your scary dinosaur tune. All the bird sounds were created using man-made noises, objects and instruments:

It's a shame what has happened to Linda Ronstadt and how so many of the younger generations think that Taylor Swift or Lady Gaga are the best lady singers ever. Neither of those two are anywhere near some of the great voices of the 60 and 70s-Maddy Prior, Sandy Denny, Annie Haslam and of course Linda Ronstadt : this gem written by Mike Nesmith (Monkeys) is what really put her in the public eye.

    and then this

It is a cruel twist of fate that the gift Linda Ronstadt was given was silenced in such a manner.A while ago, I watched some reaction videos on YouTube of younger people listening to her music and it was gratifying watching their reactions.
Linda is a timeless legend. Not for a fluffy, shake your ass wrong place and time side show, marketing magic or mechanical filters. For the purity, depth, range, tone, color, etc and wide spectrum of music she sang.

I'm not familiar with Maddy Prior, Sandy Denny, Annie Haslam. Im definitely going to familiarize myself with them now. Thanks for that. I appreciate it.

I'm listening to this now and my eyes automatically closed to listen. It hit that reflex. Very cool.

Denny died very young, sadly. The only guest vocalist on a Led Zeppelin album. Here is one of Maddy's better efforts-this record was issued when she was 57

Here's another gem from Sandy Denny

The greatest piano solo ever filmed, in my estimation. The sh!t eating grins on the faces of Kessel and the Great Dane when Oscar really gets cooking are worth the price of admission. I can't even imagine Kessel's inner dialogue, thinking to himself: I gotta follow that?!

I really, really like this. I had no clue what she was singing about so I had to look up the English translation. The mandolin is the icing on the eclair!

    Listen, Listen
    Sandy Denny

The young man rose his pretty face
All for to feel the salty spray
When storms are mustering, they say
I'll come and take you all away

I am a traveller by trade
I only have what I have made
A fortune teller too they say
And I can take you all away

    Listen Listen to him do
He is the one who is for you
    Listen, they say
He'll come and take us all away

And over there the young man stayed
Upon on the rocks so rough and grey
Watching the boy, watching the day
Thinking of how he came to be

A young man he, he is so real
And never more to go astray
He is of value now they say
And he can take himself away

    Listen Listen to him do
He is the one who is for you
    Listen, they say
He'll come and take us all away

That is such a nice song.

My wife and I accidentally saw Nickel Creek at the Richmond Folk Festival back in 2000 when they were touring that album. We went there to see Junior Brown, who was the headline act that night, and Zydeco artist Terrence Simien and Nickel Creek led off for Junior's band. It was the first time I had even heard of Nickel Creek and we were like "WOW!". What a fantastic show - all three bands were great.

Anyhoo, Nickel Creek's "Nickel Creek" is one of my favorite albums (their best, imo) and this is one of my all-time favorite songs - it's about as pretty a song as you'll ever hear:
