I find myself coming back to this video. It's just well made. I love the spectacle of that massive rock drawing closer and closer.

I love that in the map showing the Continents, they are actually in the correct placement for 65 mya, and not in their current configuration. North America much farther north than it is now, and not conjoined with South America. Plus Africa being an island and not connected to Asia and the Indian Subcontinent still floating in the middle of the current Indian Ocean.

That is always one thing that bugs the heck out of me in 90% of the videos like that. They claim to be "taking place" in a time tens of millions of years ago or longer, yet who a global map with the continents how they are placed today. And it is not even videos made by "amateurs" on YT that do that, I have seen major documentaries on places like PBS, History and Science that have done the same thing.

Every time I see a video of the KT event and it shows North and South America conjoined I just want to scream. That would not happen for another 62.5 million years or so in the future. Doing that is akin to having European knights fighting in Ancient Persia.

I think a big part of much "science illiteracy" is that so many maps used in videos about topics like this unless they are specifically addressing plate tectonics tend to completely ignore it.

I mean, come on documentary makers. We have a damned good idea how the continents were placed billions of years ago. Reflect that in your damned documentaries and explain that that is the placement then and not today.
