I think I may be becoming more hypo-glycemic. So I need to have a good full breakfast.

what do you eat for breakfast?

yes, this is a serious thread. been having white out dizzy spells when I engage in physical acytivity on a semi-empty stomach. :(

That's bad, Ron. Get it checked out toot sweet.

Meantime, start your day with a big helping of complex carbs (absolutely no refined grains or sugars!), with some protein and a little fructose. Go for 2 x whole grain toast with peanut butter and a banana, and drink tea.

Do you have a genetic predisposition to Type II diabetes? As in, racially or familial?

ive been trying oatmeal with almond milk. but thats not a very full breakfast.

carbs, protein and fruit sounds like a good combo.

I'm slightly hypo myself. Always have been. Don't do well beyond 12 hours (of no food), and even that is tricky. The thing about hypo is that it can, if lifestyle isn't managed well, become insulin resistance, then type II diabetes. It's a general blood sugar wrongness, which can flip. You'd have to give up exercise, get fat, or eat a high fat diet for it to happen, but it can. Just something to be mindful of.

Oatmeal is a good choice, but I'd add a banana or berries to it. And make sure it's a good big serving.

You could just be hypo. It won't be a problem as long as you avoid obesity and a sedentary lifestyle. Have you recently started exercising more than usual?

yeah, ive thought of adding bananas to the oatmeal.

i could just bring a box of raison bran to work everyday and it that.

thats a good mix of fruit and grains..but almond milk has no protein while cow milk does.

    hmm

Meantime, wanted to add that feeling light headed or having 'white outs' while exercising can be cardiovascular. Don't mean to alarm you, but given you're over 40 and male, that should probably be checked first. Look into 'transient ischaemic attack' and see if that sounds like what you've been experiencing. Even if not, it could still be blood pressure or oxygenation related.

I really love oatmeal (we call it porage) but I never have breakfast, so once a week I have porage for lunch. Just sharing!

Two fried eggs over easy and two cups of coffee. I don't think it would work for you. Almost no carbs in it.

Having a big meal isn't good for blood sugar issues. That just makes things worse. Eat smaller quantities and more frequently.

What brand of oatmeal? I eat real rolled oats. I like Bob's Red Mill well enough, but the best I've had is John McCann's Irish Oatmeal. I don't add anything to it. Just water and oatmeal. No salt, no sugar, no milk, no nothing.

    FLASH

Eat Oatmeal, Die Of Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma!
Oatmeal and most grains are NOT glyphosate free.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glyphosate#Humans
    https://www.google.com/search?q=gly....1.64.psy-ab..0.9.2770...0i67k1.0.00LM2WCm8H4
Quaker Oats is getting sued by consumers over glyphosate.
A nasty chemical associated with one type of deadly malignancy. Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
Radiation offers up a variety of malignancies at different times since exposure.
    Glyphosate is about one malignancy.
And of course the gov't is slow to pick up on it and now the web has confusing pages.

My neighbors were health freaks and he got Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma and died from it.
Yes he ate lots of oatmeal. Bacon and eggs would have been healthier.

If you eat oatmeal because it's good for you. Think again.
And be sure it is certified, Glyphosphate Free although I do not know that label has been made.
Yes, glyphosphate has been found in all natural Quaker Oats oatmeal. How about yours.

    End FLASH

That's what I do, except I add grated cheese. I have my own chickens. I get 2 brown and 1 green egg every day.

What, and no dinner? You have to eat enough to give the jolly ol' digestive tract some work to do or you'll start having problems with it?

I only eat one full meal a day, usually dinner. Sometimes it is lunch. It is very seldom breakfast. Otherwise I just eat little one item meals whenever the inclination hits.
