I originally posted this in another thread, but the conversation kind of died a natural death, so I figured I'd re-post it here:

First off, I do like John Kasich... I think he's a smart cookie, and I've had respect for him going back to his days as Budget Chairman in the Contract with America days. He seems to be doing a great job as Governor of Ohio. But I think he'd make a bad President, and I couldn't figure out why I had this feeling until I read this article:

Inside John Kasich's Plan to beat Donald Trump in Ohio

John Kasich's problem is the same problem he's had since he was doing Budget negotiations during the Clinton Administration.... he's a details guy par supreme. You want to know how a 2.3% adjustment in Social Security COLAs are going to change deficit projections in the out-years, he's your guy. Just look at his Ohio Campaign..... all of the details outlined in that article. He's like that Company Commander in Korea who's tasked to defend a Hill strongpoint. He's got his machine-guns located with inter-locking fields of fire. He's got his artillery support zeroed in. His mortars are positioned to provide suppressive fire from any direction. All of his dead ground is covered and he's got his wire strung. Everything is buttoned-down tight. But meanwhile, the Chinese are overrunning every hill around him.

That's his problem.... he gets so focused on the details that he loses sight of the bigger picture. He's so focused on winning the Ohio primary that he can't see that it doesn't even really matter. Even if Trump finishes a close second, he still wins. If Kasich wins Ohio, what does it matter? It's HIS state. He's the Governor.... he's SUPPOSED to win.

Other than Kasich being too detail-oriented for the job, you make a good case on why voting for him would be a wasted vote anyway. Maybe if he would have won more contests or lost them at lower margins he'd have a chance, but no.

Too bad he's the only remotely sane Republican running.

I think at this point he's basically just running for Vice President.... he's hoping to impress Trump with his ability to carry Ohio.

Kasich is a well-seasoned Washington liar, starting with his constantly repeated refrain that he balanced the budget in the House as Budget Committee Chairman, when in reality it was "balanced" by taking tens of billions of dollars from Social Security. Treasury 'balances' the books by taking on billions in debt from the SSA - only in Washington, and possibly Havana.
yes they guy that robbed the social security trust fund,so he could say look at me i balanced a budget, yes on the backs of the taxpayers.
kasich is a liar and a thief ,a bought and paid for politician he is owned by the RNC.
