Yes, our elected leaders to use another phrase has been bought and paid for. We voters are just a necessary evil to most of them. Those moneyed elites, mainly corporations and Wall Street Firms donate or give money to both incumbent and challenger, most to the incumbents, but some to the challenger just incase he wins. He will still owe the money elite for his election.

I do not take Trump seriously and highly doubt he will win the Republican nomination. But as for Omni-potentate, Truman though the same would happen to Eisenhower. He said, "Poor Ike, he will say do this and do that and nothing will happen." A reference to IKE being a powerful General whom all had to follow and obey. But IKE fooled Truman. He made friends with LBJ then the senate major leader and had him over to the White at least three times a week to discuss with LBJ how to get his, IKE's agenda through congress. This type of cooperation between leaders of different parties is truly lacking today.

No one knows how Trump would govern. What Trump would probably do is what is good for Trump. He is far from conservative and yet it is the conservatives who have latched onto him. Perhaps he provides hope to them. That he can in effect make changes and reduce government. But that is impossible. Government has become so big it is an entity unto itself with more unelected bureaucrats and entrench civil service personnel running it, that any elected leader can not change it or its mentality.

Its stupidity... like cowboy Bush's rush to war in Iraq. Trump is poorly informed on the issues.. He's a gasbag and a liar. You don't have to be mindful to get carried away by his bombast.

Actually I think Trump could be the best thing this country's had in a long time...like 20 years.
Now Bush knew better..his handlers told him what to do and how to manipulate all that.
Trump isn't beholden to Bush/Obama's puppetmasters. He remembers how free Americans used to be,as do I.
The Clintons would be beholden because they would extract lots of money from the puppetmasters.

If I had said a lie, I would retract it. As long as hamster head pushes the fear and anger buttons, he'll have a republican following.

Yeah, you tell 'em. Those Liberals that gave us trickle down voodoo crap economics and TWO unpaid for wars. Those pesky Liberals that fought so hard to take more power and democracy away from the people by claiming that corporations are people too and forcing CITIZENS UNITED down our collective throat. You mean those morons...right?

I am interested in knowing the truth here. Would you please give me a link to where he condemns brown people? I consume lots of media, so I feel a little left out here. I saw where he pointed the finger at the Mexican government for sending their worst, I saw where he described the crimes of their worst, and I have seen his opposition to illegals immigration, but I totally missed where he condemned brown people. Please provide a link, so we can dismiss this.

I just did some digging around on the internet to see if I could find any such evidence, but all I could find were various media sources implying that he was doing what you said. I will keep searching....

You probably won't find any place where he did that.

However, his positions are all dog whistles to that kind of thinking. He knows how to pander to the audience that thinks the Joe Arapio is a hero.

Certainly, but I am thrilled that he is running. He is exposing the absolute void of meaningful policy campaigns of the other contenders. Right, wrong or indifferent, Trump is at least forcing issues that matter such as unfair trade agreements, outsourcing of jobs and immigration to the foreground. The others avoid these issues and continue to run on wedge issues such as abortion, which is the only issues that does not betray their corporate masters to speak out against. I'm still waiting for Trump to discuss where his clothes are manufactured though. I also would be interested to hear where he stands on climate change.

He is all those things. And he bears a strong resemblence in his thinking to his fictional neighbor, Archie Bunker.

Yep, we're long past the stage where candidates are beholden to voters. We'd now like to get past the stage where candidates are beholden only to donors. We might as well simply crown somebody who isn't beholden to voters or donors.

Is that really your preference? I'd prefer to go back in time on that issue.

But when he talks policy, he talks a better game than anyone else: https://www.donaldjtrump.com/positions/immigration-reform

The only thing missing from this, is declaring English the National Language of the US. Had he just inserted that, I would've been bam sold. As long as Trump continues talking policy like this on other issues, he'll get elected in an FDR-landslide while everyone goes HUH?

    We're SICK of Washington.

Stranger things have happened, but I would be surprised if Trump comes out of the Republican Convention on the ticket - he's pissed off too many in the
party and he has great support ... with the angry man crowd. But that leaves about 70% of the voters who are not impressed with his antics.

I've spent the last ten years working around the area of Trump's home in Palm Beach. I've seen how much and how quickly he ticks off the people
around him. He is not the type to build a coalition unless they bend to his will. It's really difficult to govern in this country if you can't build a
coalition in Congress. Obama could rarely do it and he has the support of his party. Do you honestly think Trump will be able
to pass any legislation if he has ticked off both the Democrats AND his own party?

I would still put money on Trump running as an Independent.

Or to really tick off the Republicans if they reject him ... throw his support to Hillary. Yes, he is that vindictive.

It is pretty amusing to see how people keep focusing on the politics as usual kind of stuff when evaluating Trump. They do not seem to realize how trivial this kind of stuff is compared to why so many people want Trump. WE WANT TO TAKE BACK OUR COUNTRY! This is bigger than anything else. Once we have our country back, we can come up with some good policies. We don't care what he tweets, we don't care who he owes an apology to, we don't care that he was once a liberal screaming for his bottle of milk. For those who do not understand the Trump movement, I am confident that we look like fools to you. There sure are a lot of us though...
