Haha. I have no grass to cut. Besides, we'll be babysitting our 12-year-old niece for a few days. Sounds like we'll be pretty task-saturated.

Well this one is more "accurate" -- although it is just plucked from the internet. Can't post the real ones, I could get sued and lose my job -- we are talking about investments of € 100 000 000 easily. So,... no. :nerd:

On this one you actually see the equipment: valves (XV, PCV, LCV, etc.), indicators, transmitters, indicators-transmitters, etc.

That is not possible when I said I work in the adult oriented industries its intention was NOT to imply I'm sort of 'porn' star. I own and operate an adult webcam site and I get a cut from what the women make when they 'model' on it. Before anyone asks I rather not post the domain site because I make controversial comments here and I don't want anyone to trace me or sabotage my business.

If anyone watches the Weather channel, they have a show about the Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunters out of Keesler AFB in Mississippi. They fly C-130Js into hurricanes to obtain weather data...

I used to fly a less modern version of the C-130 in the USAF Reserves...mainly diverting bad weather, not flying into it..but the show gives a good synopsis how a squadron works as a team and the mission those folks do.

I am retired. . .from Social Work in the fields of developmental disabilities and mental health.
I will be in Europe for the Summer, visiting my family and enjoying the great food and the quality of life that is particular to Belgium and France.

I will also be visiting Italy where my brother and his wife spend their Summers in the village where she was born, in the home of her ancestors. Since you are interested in wine, I assume you know how inexpensive Italian wine (of very decent quality for table wine) can be in that part of the world (northern Italy). My brother usually buys his table wine in containers of 10 litres, that he fills himself at the "pump" in the local store (yes, it does look like a gas pump, but the tank is in stainless steel!). That wine costs (retail) 1 Euro the litre.

Neither I nor my husband have EVER been on unemployment or received food stamps. My husband social security and my pension are barely 1/3 of our retirement monthly income.

And that doesn't mean that I cannot totally appreciate how difficult life can be for people who are less fortunate than we are!

What is a Pysician Assistant? Are you the secrectary of the doctor? Like a medical secretary -- you know, the person that sits at the front desk?

I'm sorry, but I've never heard of a "physician assistant"?

Nah, PA's work like doctors in a sense...

They're not a secretary or anything...

    This may help...

There is a Dutch (Nederlands) page as well -- apparantly it is an American profession that orginated in the 1960's because of a lack of doctors.

The Netherlands have introduced the profession as well in the 2000's -- not surprising since the Netherlands is probably the most alike culture in regards to America.

    We don't need PA's -- we have a high doctors-per-capita figure (e.g. Belgium: 3,9/1000 inhabitants; USA has 2,3/1000 inhabitants).

So, a PA is basically a nurse that is allowed to sign off for him/herself.

My alma-mater had a Physician's Assistant program. I believe it's 5 years...and a very in demand field as is all of healthcare. They make a good living by the way.

    Oh,...

I wasn't criticizing or being sceptical or whatever -- everyone ought to do what they see fit...

As for me, personally -- I don't see why you should study to become a PA in 5 years, when you are a "basis" doctor after 7 years of study.

Granted, if you start studying medicine directly after high school (you first have to take an entry exam) you only graduate at age 25 y.o. -- and then you need to start specializing, which is an additional 2-3 years minimum.

Most people who "fail" on the entry exam for medicine (you also have one to become a dentist -- all other higher studies are freely accessable) go study pharmaceutical sciences or bio-medical sciences.

Doctor's don't start making real money until well into their practice. After med school they intern...so in my opinion medical doctors have a calling more so than just chasing the money. Total dedication to their profession.

Do what you like, don't chase the money, that's my advice for anyone.

How many folks live for the weekend?

Probably 85% of the work force.

We spend more time working than anything else in terms of our waking hours.
Might as well be reasonably happy while doing it.

Most folks settle for the security of a steady paycheck rather than chase a dream.

    Ach...

    I agree, Herk -- but at the same time I don't... ;)

Had a discussion about this with my Papa as well a couple of weeks ago...

You can work to live, or live to work -- to each it's own...

ask the women if they feel exploited, if their hot they can make sometimes more than a physician does in a week.

Janpor, here a link to some information about what a Physician Assistant does.

    http://www.aapa.org/the_pa_profession/what_is_a_pa.aspx

In my case I work for a cardiothoracic surgeon and I'm currently training for a second certification in emergency and trauma medicine.

Feel free to PM me should you have any other questions.
