Australia’s second-largest city, Melbourne, grappling with a spiraling coronavirus outbreak in a country that once thought it had the pandemic beat, has now imposed some of the toughest restrictions in the world.

Pandemic lockdowns, never easy, are getting ever more confusing and contentious as they evolve in the face of second and third rounds of outbreaks that have exhausted both officials and residents. With success against the virus as fleeting as the breeze, the new waves of restrictions feel to many like a bombing raid that just won’t end.

Is this the direction that the U.S. maybe on? With the internal issues we are currently dealing with I'm not all that hopeful that the U.S. could survive another lock down.

Not for me to say. I was commenting on yours that the US can't survive another lockdown.

This is a planned event, a type of false flag. Will we get fooled again by career bureaucrats? Time will tell.

    wait
    what

I thought lockdowns were the end all and be all. If lockdown 1.0 didn't work then naturally politicians would think lockdown 2.0 will

virus is gonna do what the virus is gonna do, the lockdowns proved to be ineffective

death rate is what should be monitored, not number of positive cases. Covid is not a death sentence

When the data has been doctored as thoroughly as it has been so far, the "death rate" is not accurate.

Men go mad in herds you know. And men can conspire even though they live in different countries. If they work in the same industry, it is that much easier. If they meet as part of their jobs over decades, such conspiracies are quite easy. You might say their common work facilitates conspiracies.

A clue in that regard is the experiments done on US soil for gain of function.

The thread is about Australia which had a very strong lockdown...............which killed the economy but the virus survived, as viruses do. Locking down again will give the appearance that govt is doing something albeit useless (which is generally what govt does)

We haven't had a real lockdown - only a semi lockdown. There are some shortages at the supermarket but nothing serious. I can find everything I need to buy on the internet. Within the last couple of months I have had a tooth extracted, a repair of our alarm system and some vascular surgery. I don't eat at restaurants because I eat better at home and I haven't been in a bar in decades. I exercise on a road bicycle, not a gym. I have no kids in school. I avoid crowds as I always have. Business is good on our web site. Not much of a lockdown at least for me.

I'm angry that they forced businesses to close and believe we should undo it immediately. After all, most services are readily available. They hurt thousands of business owners and their employees. They picked winners and losers. They are inexcusably authoritarian.

The U.S. would not survive a complete lockdown. If they imposed that, nobody would obey it. Please let's stop this hysteria.

I would say Big Pharma has a bigger stake in it than those making masks.

The mask makers are doing a huge business, but the profit margin can't be too high.

Big Pharma has much more to gain.

All the bureaucracies have even more to gain in terms of justifying one's bureaucratic existence.

Small men with large egos also have something to gain.

With a lockdown, the virus has no where to go. It cannot thrive.

As an added bonus, the number of people starving to death around the world will rise from 10,000 a month to hundred of thousands a month.

Of course the Democrats stopped caring about ordinary people long ago. All they care about is trashing the economy so Trump does not get re-elected. WE SEE YOU!

    https://religionnews.com/2020/07/07/how-lockdowns-are-starving-the-most-vulnerable/

Note these are the people who will die due to the FIRST lockdown. Add in a 2nd lockdown and maybe we can get that body count into the hundreds of millions! All of this for a disease that moderately more lethal than flu.

Yet somehow the virus made it into the animals in the Bronx zoo and into mink farms in Holland. It's made it into military vessels and aircraft controllers, the white house and Congress.

In short, it's made it everywhere on the planet.

The only possible exception seems to be in Africa where use of HCQ is very high. Certain other countries where a certain TB vaccine is mandated have also escaped the ravages for the most part, but that is never talked about on the establishment media.

    hmm, from the article

    https://dnyuz.com/2020/08/04/what-lockdown-2-0-looks-like-harsher-rules-deeper-confusion/

He made face masks mandatory the next day, on July 22.

Still, infections have continued to rise. They peaked at 753 new cases on July 30 and have hovered around 500 a day ever since, with the death toll in Victoria now standing at 147, after 11 deaths were recorded on Monday.

Those figures have paved the way for a Stage 4 lockdown — what officials are calling a “shock and awe” attack on the virus — that will last at least six weeks.

so, a virus that takes no more than 14 days to show symptoms but generally 3-5 days after exposure, had level 3 lockdown, mandatory masking up, yet infections rise. Virus gonna do what virus gonna do

toss out the silly masks and properly wash your hands and stop picking your nose and rubbing your eyes.

lockdowns and masking up failed. So what is being suggested............more lockdowns and more masking up

    sigh

Can you explain how that works? I mean, once everyone in the family has it, how does one infect others (neighbors, coworkers, strangers) during a lock down?
