Today I hear of Google buying a Drone maker and FB already has bought one. Does anyone know why these companies need such a thing other than to actually do what some believe they might already be doing. Do they actually want to observe their customers behaviour directly rather than just monitor their digital behaviour. This development doesn't make sense to me other than they want to set up surrogate, unelected governance of our behviour. Source ~ Google buys drone maker Titan Aerospace
For google it could help with their maps. Could be less expensive and more efficient than the google cars. Not sure about FB unless they want to do some sort of mapping thing too to compete or maybe overlay aerial images with geolocators or something.
They are claiming to want to use them to bring wireless internet access to places that are currently inaccessible. I will posit that Google currently knows more about YOU than the NSA ever will, I can't imagine that they will not be using drones to gather more intelligence on people.
That was my thought too. - - - Updated - - - I don't see a real business case for it unless it is private spying, which they already do under their business model.
Even though I have an FB page I do think it serves a rather unintelligent, shallow population, and I also think it's business model might be fashionable, run by a very Nerdy Zuckerberg who does not seem to understand money, ethics or privacy of the individual.
