Aldi and an independent local owned store mostly; occasionally food lion that has better soda prices (and choices). Used to do Lidl instead of Aldi but ours closed down.

The $4 loaf will be edible. I live UK, we have the poor shops such as Aldi and Lidl for the peasants. When they first opened, I gave Aldi a go in my naivety. One bite of pizza, binned. Opened the tin of sardines, I'm convinced they were in car oil, binned. A customer I did a job for gave me a bottle of Aldi read wine, tried one sip, binned. There's an old saying, "You get what you pay for". It's actually cheaper paying more for better quality food because you will actually eat it and not throw it out.
I can't speak to UK's food quality, but most food you buy in the US is co-packed by the same people who make the name-brand foods. Your milk is going to come from PET or Maola no matter whose name is on the jug, for instance.
