You can stop being a bully for big oil as we all know governments will never comply with their pledges to lower greenhouse gasses. Even "the little girl" is smart enough to know when she is getting lip service from the leaders. Not sure why you are worried the climate scientists will have an impact on the amount of fossil fuels governments use. As their economies grow so does the amount of fossil fuels used. So we either destroy our planet or we don't.

Still can't show what is the climate emergency is, the article showed a number of factors that doesn't support an emergency narrative.

It is always revealing when warmist/alarmists try hard to denigrate an article using base official data that doesn't agree with their modeling fantasies.

    Carry on.

I will add comments by actual experts on Climate.

Prior to you watching the video, Please if you are serious about this topic as we think you are, Watch the video.

It represents your alarmist views but also has outstanding commentary by the non alarmists.

I believe that science must be accepted. So accept the science that CO2 lags warming temperature and lags cooling as well.
CO2 is getting a bad rap. And not by scientists, but by politicians. Ask why politicians and you will realize control over humans is the way politicians operate.

I have a lot less respect for Democrats than for the oil industry.

Back when I was a Democrat, we did not attack the oil industry. We noted then the rapid progress for all humans as they used more and more petroleum products. Even today plastic is made using oil. Airplanes have made our world a lot better by getting both passengers and freight to where both are needed.
The bully is against big oil. Little oil also suffers. Man will suffer due to the oil haters and not prosper though Democrats pull the head fake by claiming we must change.

I believe over time it will be totally proven that oil is still being made by nature. That is how Earth works.

BTW making oil is understood. It costs more but man can make oil now.

So big oil is the victim in all this and people like Greta are the bullies? How many wants became needs after oil was discovered? Do you really think we need to use so much oil? People who want to cut way back on oil usage are the real heroes who are ready to sacrifice their standard of living for future generations. And all folks like you want is to maintain your level of comfort until the day you die like you are somehow entitled to that. Have you even invested in solar power or solar water heating for your home? Or is it full speed ahead with the oil and everyone else who cares about the planet be damned? I prefer to tread with caution until we actually do know what fossil fuels are doing since oil has only been around since the industrial revolution in a big way.

If you attack oil, and I did not say you did, then you are attacking big oil. I did not mention Greta this time.

I do not see the scientific basis to get rid of oil. I believe the supply is not vanishing given it is created in Earth constantly.

Please stop acting like this saves the Planet. This is a con job pulled by Democrat politicians.

As to my use of solar to heat the water, I paid a hell of a lot to do that by 1983. The con jobs to get us to buy it were amazing. And it was a lousy deal.

My son has put solar for electricity on his travel trailer and it works to charge batteries. So far he is not moving to install it on the home yet.

Do you own a car using solar or wind to power the car?
Did you put on Solar on the house due to enormous tax payments to your family?

Have you flown in a solar powered airplane? Pretty damned slow aren't they?

There is a long tradition of millenarian thought in western civilization, and it's not surprising that chiliastic yearning has survived the decline in formal religious practice in the 20th and 21st centuries. This may be the key to understanding the psychology of AGW advocacy. Replace the biblical "end times" with a postulated hothouse Earth and present a millennium of renewable, carbon-free energy sources, and it all fits together pretty snugly.
As for fossil fuels, they are the greatest boon in the history of mankind. Those who would do away with them would take delight in the suffering of their fellow human beings.

We've been told time and again that liberals aren't much on religion. When did that all change? I guess anything that makes life easier must be good. Maybe a break through in nuclear fusion will save this planet.

The point of my post was the suggestion that chiliastic yearning has escaped from its religious birthplace to inhabit secular minds. Your post is an example.

It would be if I wasn't a Christian. But I think you assume too much based off very little information.

I don't care about your religious affiliation, and it's not relevant. The substitution of climate chiliasm for religious chiliasm proceeds apace regardless. It is reflected in your post.

    Questioning the Climate-Change Narrative

    Steven Koonin, National Review

". . . For example, both the research literature and government reports that summarize and assess the state of climate science say clearly that heat waves in the U.S. are now no more common than they were in 1900, and that the warmest temperatures in the U.S. have not risen in the past 50 years. When I tell people this, most are incredulous. Some gasp. And some get downright hostile.

But these are almost certainly not the only climate facts you haven’t heard. Here are three more that might surprise you, drawn directly from recent published research or the latest assessments of climate science published by the U.S. government and the U.N.:

    • Humans have had no detectable impact on hurricanes over the past century.
    • Greenland’s ice sheet isn’t shrinking any more rapidly today than it was 80 years ago.
    • The net economic impact of human-induced climate change will be minimal through at least the end of this century.
    So what gives . . .? . . . ."

I see that his counterpoint bucket has run dry, no longer has any arguments left to offer.

There is NO Climate Emergency to worry about.

Fun fact: There is not a single type of "clean, renewable energy" that can be produced without using coal and petroleum byproducts in it's manufacturing process....

Here's just one example of "clean" energy. Do you know what it takes to make a single solar panel? First, a strip mine or open pit mine for the silica sand, using machines that are powered by fossil fuels. Then it gets loaded onto railcars, using a train engine that is also powered by fossil fuels. Then it goes to a refining facility, where coal or coke is used to heat the silica sand to 2,000 degrees in crucibles. Various processes are then used to purify the silicon to 99.9999% purity. Boron and phosphorus are added to the silicon, both of which are strip mined, again using machines that are powered by fossil fuels. Then, the solar cells are encased in glass, Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA), Polyvinyl Flouride (PVF), copper wiring (strip mine/diesel), and an aluminum frame (strip mine/diesel). So much for your "clean" energy....

“But if seas rise 20 feet or more over the next 100 to 200 years—which is our current trajectory—the outlook is grim. In that scenario, there could be two feet…

"The Covering Climate Now propaganda effort was “co-founded by the Columbia Journalism Review and The Nation in association with The Guardian and WNYC in 2019, CCNow’s 460-plus partners include some of the biggest names in news” with the stated purpose of “to produce more informed and urgent climate stories, to make climate a part of every beat in the newsroom”. Their basic document, the CCNow Climate Emergency Statement, claims, in part, “…to preserve a livable planet, humanity must take action immediately. Failure to slash the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere will make the extraordinary heat, storms, wildfires, and ice melt of 2020 routine and could “render a significant portion of the Earth uninhabitable…”. To accomplish their goals, CCNow provides its partners with republishable stories from other partners (.pdf), editorial guidance, story writing ideas, a list of talking points labelled Climate Science 101 provided by Katharine Hayhoe.
