My family and most of my neighbors have been tested this week and received results in 15 minutes.

It's not that way everywhere, it would be great if it was. I am glad you and your neighbors were able to get tested and get results that quickly.

There is a Finnish breathalyzer supposedly gives results in 30 seconds.. that would be awesome in a school if true..

From what I hear. 1 in 5 who get infected develop symptoms.

Of those. 1 in 5 may die or be disabled

The virus has different manifestations in different patients

Not to be to gory. I read about some Autopsies showing blood clots in every organ in the body.. even the heart which is very rare.. and in every cappilary..

The nuerological effects are really weird. A member of Netherlands Parliament said he was suffering at the interview and had confusion and loss of focus for about a month prior

The disabled are going to be a big number

I apologise for the generalization and lack of proof.. The CDC has been dismantled. The WHO is the who?
Only Trumpocalypse has the data now.

No. I don't. I suspect it has something to do with other forums, but I try to avoid that kind of drama.

If most of what is going on is political the surge was needed to reestablish control. The virus may be over after November or it may hit it's most virulent stage and last 4 more years. Ask Nancy. She can tell us when the worst will pass.

I believe the virus may have touched my family in January. My grandson went to California then and he came home very sick. High fever, bad cough and flu like body aches. Could have been the plain old every year flu though but it was the worst flu I have ever seen.

This virus doesn't care who is in the WH. This virus doesn't check political party. This virus doesn't care about the color of your skin, your sexual orientation, or if you are wealthy or poor. It doesn't care about your native country, and it certainly doesn't give a **** about political elections.

Do you have enough tinfoil for your hat?

So you believe there is a worldwide conspiracy, involving millions of people, just to get Trump out of office? Hmmmmm.... call my skeptical.

Guess what, though? There is no indication that this thing will be gone by November. If we had come together as a people and done the things, we would have been done weeks ago. This country is filled with morons without any ability to understand the scientific method, so here we are.

You haven't paid enough attention to the political science involved in this. Clearly November is the due date for the magic of socialism to manifest itself and cure covid by giving us bigger problems to worry about.

That is becoming a significant theme here in Florida. DeSantis says he is ordering Dept Health to investigate.

The OP Texan sounds like a typical case to me. Mild to heavy symptoms for a few days.

The rate of infection is far higher than they would like to admit, and posts on this thread support that idea.

IMO the virus is very transmissible, but very low morbidity.

I have about 5 friends who have been recently sick, and they sound just like Texan's experience.

We didn't have any tests in January. We had infections (I know several) but no tests. The word wasn't popular yet in January.

When testing kits arrived, some were faulty and actually contaminated. https://digwithin.net/

The thinking is that the news "spin"....spins. We know it does.

Today, liberal media are terrifying people by focusing on skyrocketing cases, hospitals running out of space, and other negative broad daily coverage. The virus doesn't seem as bad if you look at mortality rates, and if the news stops covering Covid every single day, then out of site, "almost" out of mind. They'll cover regional outbreaks on a local level, but not much national. Any hospital shortages will be covered with "We can handle this with pop-up medical units and mobile staff".

Essentially, the spin will move from pessimistic to optimistic. Media can set the national tone from hopelessness/despair to upbeat/positive.

We finally know someone who had covid. He and his family needed shelter after Katrina and my BIL knew them but was full up with people and sent them to us. We were in a tent and had spare tents, cots, food, and well water, everything to survive, but it was ungodly hot. He was 80 pounds overweight, AC dependent, and really suffered. After a couple of weeks they found better quarters. We got word yesterday he was dead of covid in Tennessee. Sad. Every time you sneeze or cough, "Is this it? Is this it?"

People keep focusing on deaths, and while it's good that it's not super deadly, it does leave people with lifelong conditions in far greater numbers. Heart disease, lung diseased & diminished mental capacity are the biggies.

Florida IS running out of hospitals, and since we couldn't contain it, emergency managers are scratching their heads on what we will do if there's a hurricane. It's going to be a very busy season, from the way things look, now. Hurricane Hannah already hit Texas. There's never been an Atlantic "H" storm in July.

Just clarifying @Heartburn 's point about why the media's outlook on Covid is likely to appear a much rosier in November than today, even if we're in the same spot.

Versus accusing a fellow forum member of being a liar, yes, I do believe him. Where is the motivation to lie?

An informed opinion after watching Obama be treated as "Does nothing wrong," by the exact same media which portrays Trump as "Does nothing right." If Biden is elected, he'll all but "Cure Covid," or at least, we won't hear all "panic news", so that businesses can reopen with cheers instead of with a scowl.
