Whoopi Goldberg freaks out over media not reporting on 'real culprit' behind inflation: 'Corporate profits'
Whoopi Goldberg freaks out over media not reporting on 'real culprit' behind inflation: 'Corporate profits' (msn.com)

Democrats along with President Biden have blamed inflation on corporate greed, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine.

You posted the reason why! Nectar attracts bee's and bullshit attracts flies and in the case of The View, it clearly attracts idiots ;)

I've encountered plenty of people as stupid in this forum.

They seriously think "corporate greed" is to blame for these price increases. Nevermind why those "greedy" corporations did not decide to increase their prices before now, if they could.

No matter how much wacky Leftist policies wreck the economy, they will still blame "Capitalism".

When government spends money by printing more of it, someone has to pay for that.

Get an idiot to screw up the country, and an even bigger one to cover it up.

Caryn Johnson, a.k.a. "woopi goldberg" has a net worth of $60 million, and some bunch of hyperliberal nitwits pay her $8 million a year to do what ever the hell it is that she does. And she's bitching about undeserved wealth being squandered on anyone?!

Do these mega-rich libs even begin to realize what hypocrites they are?

Did you notice that no matter the reason for price increases, it links back to cost of transporting goods.

May I ask a favour? We gone down the hyperbole? I know that is a huge ask of the right wing media since it focuses on validating right wing belief in “victim hood” but some degree of dispassion would be nice

I'm not sure it's stupidity. Sure, I'll grant there are a couple of people on this forum I would regard as stupid, but the majority of people who say things like this do it because they are supporting their side, and if that's what the talking points of the day are, that's what they spew.

This is the woman who constantly told us the 1% should be taxed out the ass. When she found out she was part of the 1% she changed her tune will beat the crap out of you if you mention taxing the 1%.

A measure of US profit margins has reached its widest since 1950, suggesting that the prices charged by businesses are outpacing their increased costs for production and labor.

After-tax profits as a share of gross value added for non-financial corporations, a measure of aggregate profit margins, improved in the second quarter to 15.5% -- the most since 1950 -- from 14% in the first quarter, according to Commerce Department figures published Thursday.

Yep, profits are so high that the stock market is down 8000 points. Those profits you speak of are in dollars, are they not? The dollar is worth less now because the government keeps printing them.

    You are exactly correct.

Now explain how the oil companies are recording record profits, if their “costs” for their own product is going up ?

Wait, I’ll get that for you. The COST of thier product is not going UP…..If it were their profits would go down, or at a minimum would stay the same.

There are 2 ways to make profits:
    1. Lower costs for the raw materials, and keeping the price the same
    2. If raw materials cost the same, raise the price for the goods

So which is happening here ?

When I’m faced with economic questions of a large scale in my country my first thought is “I wonder what a fat, dumb actress thinks”?

The real culprit for inflation was the pandemic.
And the long recovery from it. The lack of product due to workers not working, but consumers rich in cash with all the extra UE and paychecks the gov't handed out in 2020 and 2021.
And then the long process of hiring everyone back.

Goldberg's economic opinions reflect her education level, i.e., high school dropout.

I don't think it's even about education level.
    Stupid is stupid.

And to think she played a wise character, Guinan, on the Star Trek Next Generation series.
Just goes to show Hollywood is just make believe.

Whoopi Goldberg has a poorly thought out opinion based on raw emotion and hyper partisanship: More at eleven.

The real culprit is democrats, Brandon in particular, hopefully America learns it’s lesson and never gives full democrat control again.

This projection is impressive. Passion, is all the left has portrayed for years. If the left were as correct as they were emotional we would live in a utopia.

victimhood is the primary way the left has gained votes. They have told everyone they are a victim of something, be it cops, white people, corporations, capitalism, etc lol.

Whoopie is rich enough to be considered a corporation by herself if she hasn't already done that to avoid some taxes. So, when she starts working for somewhere between min wage and $100k I'll say she has put her money where her big mouth is. Until then, jog on.

Yep, almost as stupid as the people who post "I did this" Biden photos on gas pumps. Or, the many PF posters who think that a president can make inflation go from 2% to 6% the very moment he sets foot into the oval office.

I am not saying that the Biden stimulus did not contribute to inflation, but it is a worldwide, complex phenomenon that is multifaceted (covid crisis, people not going back to work after staying home because of covid, supply chain issues, the Ukraine war, government stimulus checks from both sides, rising energy costs due to high demand...). And, yes, corporate greed to overcharge because they can is not helping.

Now, they REAL simpletons are the ones who think that this is a partisan problem that can be blamed on the other party. They will be in shock that if the GOP takes back Congress in Nov, that they will have no better tools to fight inflation than the Dems. The GOP really has only one tool: Tax cuts. And that won't help with inflation.

The ONLY institution that can now get inflation under control is the Fed, which they are attempting with rate hikes. Let's see how it works and if so, how quickly. If it starts working, be sure that congressional Republicans are going to take credit, if they take over Congress in Nov, which seems more and more likely.
