Why are conservative religious people often politically conservative?

Psychologists have a pretty good take on that:

 

Conscientious people like order and honesty and like the rules in religions. I like to feel I'm doing the right thing at the right time.

Biden drives me nuts.

I can not guess how stupid the next thing he's going to do will be.

 

Why are pretentious university students often leftists? Same reason. Part group identity and peer pressure, part because it's in the lessons/sermons they receive, part because each endeavour attracts those people.

 

Although I've always been on the left, it was because it promised security, and I like stability.

But it isn't providing that anymore, at all.

 

As Steady Pie said, students are usually on the left, and I certainly was.

But as well as liking stability, I'm risk-averse.

Biden's idea of fun is to be unpredictable. To say one thing, then do the opposite.

To say immigration is under control, then we find out it isn't.

To leave Afghanistan but start a much bigger war in Ukraine.

People say he didn't start it, but he goaded Putin merciliessly.

And if going into a country proves the attacker is in the wrong and is the aggressor

then what about:

we went into Libya
we armed Al Queda to go into Syria
