Tons of evidence. Everything from the FBI studies on the issue to the criminological studies on the subject. Even the rabidly dishonest and discredited VPC admits to 67,740 lawful DGUs every year, which is many times greater than the annual rate of firearms homicide, and still not in the realm of the FBI's far higher rate of as high as 1.5 million.

Wasn’t obvious, it didn’t include a reference quote and immediately followed mine which is usually interpreted by many as a comment on the previous post.

That you are prepared to argue and not apologise for your lie only informs me about your character. Have a good day!

Please don't ask me to go to group think sites!!! Refer to evidence directly. I strongly recommend academic analysis to minimise bogus dispute.

A dog and baseball bat would be workable if we were younger. But being in our sixties, and not wanting to become attached to a dog or put it in harms way, we're thinking a gun with immediate stopping power is our best route.

The above is a useless suggestion for a defensive strategy. Unlike a firearm, an animal must be provided with constant, daily care, that will run into tens of thousands of dollars overall, all for something that can and will die within a period of years.

I like Remingtons but some are saying the same quality is not there. For a pump gun, you're going to pay a bit more and bit more for the Benelli Nova. Mossberg's come in 3 version, the 88 budget model, the 500 series that are midrange and the 590 series that are their upper end and roughly equivalent to the Remingtons. I'm not sure what's going on with Winchester though I have a 1200 series about 20 feet from me right now.
Best value for the money and what you could term dependable would be the 500 series Mossbergs that you can get at Buds for a little over $300. After everything is said and done, you'll look at around $400.

There are lots of older Remington 870 to be had, old LE trade ins, for around
$250 or so, had very good results with them.

Please don't ask me to waste my valuable time on reposting links you can find yourself on the site I referenced. All of it to academic analysis of exactly what you requested.

Its a shame that you can't refer to just one piece of evidence that you feel is important. It's like you haven't read any of the available literature...

As I feared, just copy and paste from a group think site! Clearly there is no quality control with it. No one with any resemblance of accuracy would reference pish tabloids like the Mail. But let's take the scholarly evidence. I dont believe you have read any of them. However, I'd be very happy to be proved wrong. Indeed, any evidence of research comprehension among the pro-gunners should be treated as a success. Which one do you think derives the most important findings for your position, and why?

Exactly what does the above have to do with tactical shotguns?

That's true when you can find them, however, I'd replace the magazine spring and extractor /ejector before I'd trust it fully.

A blatant attempt at derailing a thread, yet nothing is done? Go figure that one.

In my experience with older Remington 870 shotguns, I had zero trouble with ejectors, or extractors.

But with PD guns you just don't know, especially if they've had hard use. The magazine spring I'd replace just as a matter of caution. I've had an extractor failure on a model 12 and those things are built like tanks.
