After the Russian invasion of Georgia, Conservatives in America feared the Russian threat calling Russia the greatest geopolitical opponent while Liberals back down. Now the position has switched as the investagations and war in Syria grows, and the Conservatives adore Putin due to anti-PC, anti Muslim etc. Putin does not want peace. He wants to weaken the US as a superpower. Yes, some of Putin's intentions are geniune and he is a strong leader. However, geopolitical, he does not align with our interests.
