Why the backlash against Indiana and not other states with similar laws? Timing.

Don't you understand 100% of this angry fauxrage is based on how "they could discriminate".

Seeing how Obama voted for the same thing in Illinois, we are now supposed to be all aghast because a Republican did the same.

I'd like to troll one of these people's protests and just stand in the middle of them with a sign that reads, "This is what an uneducated liberal mob looks like."

Obama and Clinton, amongst other dems, have both supported these laws.

But... the GOP does it? .... "Sharia Law !!!!"... "End of America as we know it!"

And they wonder why no one ever takes them seriously.

and ironically, liberals are all supportive of Islam despite Islam being the only religion that condones the hanging of gays.

WHAT???? Religious freedom is the end of the American way? WFT...It is the American way!!!! It's religious freedom that's protected by the US Constitution, not gay rights. And as long as we're on the topic of ending the American way, we're now being forced (via penalty) to purchase a product from a private sector company, so if you're concerned about the American way you might want to attack that little anti-Ameican law instead.

Anybody who disagrees with the position that people should not be discriminated against on the basis of race, creed, gender or national origin really IS a bigot. Homosexuality is a gender issue. No way around it. If the shoe fits, wear it. With pride.

printing hate on a cake is what you support? seriously.. do you consider this to be Christian?

notice they would sell them the cake, just without the hate, the Christian bakeries wont sell them the cake, but instead are filled with hate

the Christians want a special "hate" cake, the same gender couples just want the same marriage cake they sell everyone else, same words, same everything

one is based on love... one is based on hate

The case could be made that Kentucky and Indiana are the two most backward states in union. You revel in being backward, expect backlash.

"Ignore" is in quotes for reasons Jeff will understand the next time you respond to him.

Advertise that your bakery will not provide wedding cakes for gay couples or we will advertise it for you. Immediately you run the risk of losing at least half of your business regardless of how Christian you think you are. If you can stay afloat with a 50% loss in revenue, more power to you.

Translation: bigots need a home where they can roam free from all those libruls who hate them for their freedoms, God, Guns and such.

You folks need to understand something, we are a nation first and every single person has the exact same rights as any other person. One day you might actually get it. Until then, enjoy the backlash. My prediction is this gets repealed very soon. Bigotry disguised as religion is still bigotry even if you think Jesus agrees with you.

While you are way off with the "50%", I have been saying the same thing.
If your business fails.... you learn.

As for advertising, that's just money they shouldn't be forced to spend.
But that's coming from a Conservative.

All the whining about Christians discriminating because of this, are based on ignorance to the reality of these laws... and the 20 states they exist in.
    Where no problems are occurring.

The anger isn't at being discriminated against.... the anger is at Christians, because gays think Christians are the only ones who support this law.
And of course, as we already discussed, despite Obama and Clinton supporting these laws..... the anger is because this one was a Republican.

We do have religious freedom, but that doesn't mean it should extend to freedom to discriminate in the marketplace.

No, discrimination is not the "American way". Here, we're more interested in equality.

It's always surprising to me to see people suggesting that Christianity is a justification for discrimination. When Jesus interacted with those who didn't follow Judaism he didn't shun them or suggest that others shun them.

Besides, when you start using religion as a way to avoid our laws there really is no end to it. Israel, for example, is struggling with this notion that religion is a basis for excusing oneself from Israeli law. They're gradually moving toward the idea that religion is not such an excuse. So, radically devout Jews now must serve in the military - even though there are females in the military!

If these laws are let stand how long do you think it will be before the religious are publishing lists of everyone who says they serve gays and demanding they be boycotted? I'm really surprised it hasn't happened already. It was the same way with Jim Crow. Jim Crow laws weren't widely adopted until the 1890s. A lot of white business owners already had a large black clientele by then and didn't want to stop doing business with them. Their names were published in all the newspapers as a "public service" and they soon knuckled under since many whites wouldn't deal with them and/or the Klan would burn them out.

If these laws stay in force you won't be able to get ANY service in these states of anything if you're gay. Fortunately they won't, the SCOTUS is almost certain to declare them Unconstitutional once they rule on gay marriage.

Religious freedom isn't a freedom to break the law, otherwise we'd have to permit human sacrifice, and refusing service to anyone based on sexual orientation is a clear violation of the Civil Rights Act, I just can't see how anyone can argue it's not.

The only flaw in my plan (as I see it) is that the Christian cake bakers could easily get a cease and desist against my advertising campaign.

Avoid laws? This is the law.

    Laws change.
Just ask the left every time they were asked why Obama doesn't care about the Constitution.
Their response, 100% of the time, was "laws change".

Their was no law forcing business owners to provide abortion coverage until Obamacare.

And like it or not, that law was made to be changed.

    "straight dudes 4 gay rights"

I always find it amusing how quickly a person who swears there is nothing wrong with being gay will make damn sure you don't mistake him for a gay.....
