So if there's another terrorist attack somewhere I can just change the channel and everything will be better? Gee, I never thought of that. I'll try that sometime.

I never said it was or should be.

What time honored tradition of prayer and sports? What other major sports have televised prayers over loudspeakers that I don't know about?

Then they need to get over themselves and not take offense just because they feel like they need to be offended.

Do you have the same outrage when writers of television programs feel the need to push their ideology on the people who watch popular programming? I do, but try to look past it unless it becomes so commonplace that I watch something else.

I'm just surprised to see it. I don't understand why you need prayer at sporting events. If anything, I would think it trivializes it. There are plenty of sporting events out there that don't feel the need to lecture and proselytize to the fans.

Judging from the event, I'd guess more people in the audience would be offended if they didn't pray.

It is part of the tradition. You have no idea how middle class people enjoy their off time.

More arrogant elitists telling us we are wrong

My life? No. My WAY of life. No.

But I also don't try to proselytize my beliefs to others. I'm quite comfortable with them and have no need to trumpet them to large audiences.

Still not 70%. You DO realize there are many sects and denominations in Christendom? This prayer was directed at the minority who identity as evangelical. That's why most public meetings who have prayer try to make it non-denominational. It shows you are thinking of all, not just the chosen few. That's what separates democracies from dictatorships (among other things).

The burden of proof is on those making a claim. You cannot prove a negative.

A prayer is a prayer. Those of us who pray are not offended by the denomination of a person making the prayer.

I've gone to sermons given by Christians, Jews and Muslims.

But you cannot prove that praying saved the drivers of every race that was prayed over. That is my point. Or are you seriously trying to contend that no driver would survive without Jow Blow and Aunt Nancy praying for their safety? I really think you are smarter than that based on your past posts.

No you want to control people and condemn those that do not believe like you do

You appear to be an arrogant liberals elitist making a big deal about an event that does not affect him

So...they are trying to convert you???! LOL! Ohh that's rich.

I'd be willing to guess that they could give two (*)(*)(*)(*)s about you and what you believe.

Show proof. I do not know any Christians that do not pray for our troops or safety for all people

    Um. No. You. Are. Wrong.

You are confusing organized prayer by a government entity, like schools, Congress or the Post Office with individual prayer. Try to stop me from praying. I may just look deep in thought, while I'm praying that the hotdog your handing me from your grill on Labor Day isn't laced with e coli and that a flare up doesn't burn you horribly.

Ask Granny if she thinks everyone would get killed in a huge crash if folks didn't pray for them. And does Granny pray every time she drives or does she just figure she's a good enough driver to avoid it?

Look... it is your evidence... don't argue with me because it now supports the opposite argument.

No, I'm not. Show me where I tried to proselytize to people and get them to follow the path I've taken. Show me where I've done that ANYWHERE on this board in any thread since I've joined. You can't because I don't believe in that.
