Sometimes before embarking on something important, people may feel the need to invoke deity; people are free to pray if they want or ignore whats being said.

You know as apathetic as I am towards religion, I still refuse to call myself a atheist, because a rabid portion of them are such hypersensitive arrogant pricks, and I refuse to be associated with such mean spirited cry babies.

    My guess is few.

Private event. If they want to chant to their rain gods or have their shamans sacrifice a goat they are free to.

I am much the same way, which is why I said what I said earlier in regards to you. Not in a bad way, I just saw you as similarly inclined.

I would say the prayer has helped prosper the nascar family.

I don't see the France family or Hendrick or Rousch or Childress filing bankruptcy

I agree, I don`t know if God exists or not. Either way, historically, we owe our free lifestyle to Christianity.

    No they aren't.

Nascar is very popular with the very same segment of people who also like to worship. Nascar knows it's target audience.

Its really quite simple. They prayed because they wanted to. They believe that the prayer will help protect those that they prayed for. (The troops, the drivers, et al) Whether out really does or not is irrelevant and impossible to prove either way. What matters is that they believe it does. Your lack of faith makes it impossible for you to understand.

As to trivializing prayer, you do realize that some people pay at every meal, right? How would an additional prayer trivialize it? To the faithful, any time is a good time, and any place is a good place, to pray and show God that you believe. Kind of like the liberal belief that government, and throwing other people's money at a problem, is always the answer. Both are just as grounded in fact, the difference is that faith doesn't have as much evidence of failure. :omg:

For some of us, religion has something to do with every aspect of our lives. We don't turn our religion on and off like water from a tap.

NASCAR has had an invocation at every race for decades and has the backbone to stand up against the haters and the fearful to continue to do this. Thank God and Jesus Christ, our savior!

The original post probably amounts to a pissy pants rant, with the true origins of rage being over the inability of a certain few to prove that the NASCAR "Obama diss" was racist.

I hate religion but I love NASCAR. I have no problem with prayer.

It's what NASCAR does and I'm just fine with it.

If you're not then you're living in the wrong country. Maybe China would be better for you.

What you call 'patriotism' is a feeble and transparent attempt at brainwashing the populace into a 'my country, right or wrong' mindset. It seems to be working in redneck America...and WTF does flying military jets around over a racetrack have to do with motor racing? More idiotic dick-waving? And the praying? Another example of how far America has to go before it joins the 21st century.
And as for NASCAR; what a joke. Forty identical cars turning left for hours in front of a Budweiser-soaked bunch of rednecks! Is that really what passes for entertainment in America? (I guess Formula 1 is too complicated for them, what with all those tricky corners...).

To the crybaby that started this whining OP. We got Hoffa Jr. talking about "we need to take these SOB's out ..." as he speaks in front of Presbo's speech to union punks. We got Biden saying equally toxic crap at his labor rally. We got Maxine Waters and her racist vitriol. Along with other members of the racist CBC.

And we got you soiling yourself because they prayed before a NASCAR race.

Can you tell what's wrong with this picture without having another liberal hissy fit ?

Nascar is a private sport, They can do what ever they want as long as it is legal. Last time I checked prayer was legal so they can do it. Don't like it? change the channel. From what I can gather most times it is tradtion for the sport. Much like for other sports the nataional anthem is played (i know hockey is run by nationalists! I have to listen to O Canada before watching the game? OMG) For real, no big deal no one is forcing it on you.

Flying around an oval at close to 200mph is a dangerous proposition, is prayer really so out of line?

I think "randlepatrickmcmurphy" got his ass handed to him in a spoon in this thread!! Ha Ha! Although I do not pray, I support the 1st amendment and all those who excersize the right to freedom. Obviously "randlepatrickmcmurphy" does not value freedom. I have been to many a NASCAR race, and during the invocation, I show respect. randlepatrickmcmurphy obviously has no respect for others, but only thinks of his own whiney self.

I stand and hold hands during prayer sessions though I don't actually pray myself. I do this out of respect when I join my wife at church every Sunday morning, because I honor and respect my wife and the people around me. I do it for them, not for myself and not for any god. There's nothing wrong with showing respect for others. Randle obviously has no respect for anyone but himself, so screw him.
