An airliner with a giant hole in the wing would be guaranteed to still be able to fly?

It wouldn't just be engine "damage." It would be engine OBLITERATION, and there would be an INSANE amount of energy in such an explosion! Plus, what the hell do you think will happen to the fuel?

There's no way that C4 is used for stump removal!

Again, you are imagining a much larger explosion than what the stinger offers. Obliteration and Insane are a little over the top.

That explosive missile is different than a cartridge for a firearm.

    That's not clear to you?

How would they get their hands on an FIM-92 round?

Exactly, so then your argument of laws don't stop people from committing crimes doesn't apply. Obviously the fact that the law doesn't allow FIM-92 rounds to be sold at the local gun shop DOES prevent someone from walking out of a gun shop with an FIM-92 and rounds, driving to a remote desert location and engaging airliners.

Other explosives have been used in the past for stump removal, if you'd taken the time to read the link I posted. Why would C4 be any less capable?

My goodness! I'm not referring to the explosion caused by the stinger, I'm talking about the explosion caused by the engine and jet fuel CAUSED by the stinger!

Laws don't stop people from committing crimes.

Have you ever heard the word criminal? Do you know that that is?

The trick with explosives is using just a little more than needed.

a large number on the left-the SJW strain, think that an "unjust society" creates criminals. Many Democrats are cynical about tougher penalties on people who cannot help their status. Many on the left think that "cracking down on crime" is a dog whistle to "racists" as well. So when democratic party leaders are pushed to do something about a rise in street crime-they chose "gun control". That allowed them to claim they were "DOING SOMETHING" without harming people who they saw as victims (and who were often supported by main Democrat constituencies)

at first, I don't think Democrats were really about harassing lawful gun owners as much as they were about covering their collective butts when people complained about liberal politicians coddling thugs. But as gun owners and gun groups retaliated-at the ballot box-against those bogus "crime control" schemes, Democrats started seeing gun advocates and gun rights organizations as the real targets to punish with gun control
