Will Joe Biden Run For Reelection?

I was a hard no after he face planted at the debate. But he seems pretty defiant, so now I'm a hard maybe.

 

Biden has been running for reelection since he first announced his intention to do so last April 2023. He has also secured the Democratic Party’s nomination with all but around 100 delegates. Biden has been running for reelection for around 15 months now. Now do you mean will he step aside on his own accord. That seems doubtful. For some reason which I can’t fathom, Biden seems to think he’s the only democrat that could defeat Trump. Personally, I think almost any other democrat would have a better chance of accomplishing that other than Biden. Due to his very low overall job approval, 39% today, his handling on most issues, below 40% on those. Add to that is that 58% of all Americans have a negative or unfavorable view of Biden, 59% don’t want him to run again. Then there is the age issue along with huge questions about his mental fitness to serve another term. Not conductive to defeating Trump.


The only reason Biden could win reelection, I view his chances 50-50 is his opponent is Trump. Trump is disliked by all Americans as much as Biden and not wanted to become the next president as much as Biden isn’t wanted by most Americans. Which ever one wins, around 60% of all Americans won’t want that winner in the white house.

 

Only 2 ways he goes away before November:

1. The Obamas/Shumers/Pelosis of the world convince him to. "You're an American HERO, Joe - you beat Trump last time! But you need to do the honorable thing & step aside, because all our data show we'll lose with you on the ticket." Maybe they sweeten the pot with a ton of cash. Or maybe they threaten him. "It'd be a shame if Hunter went to prison for 20 years, Joe. You know we've buried most of it. But maybe it won't stay buried. It would really be unfortunate if it all came to light..."

2. Kamala & the cabinet knife him with the 25th.

Either way, it'd be Kamala on top of the ticket; the only Dem who polls worse than Biden. The Dems' allegiance to DEI won't let them step over an Oppressed Black Woman With A Vagina™. Not to mention she's the only one who can use any of their campaign cash. Still, DJT - to a lesser extent - is tainted by the same stigma as Biden: he's ancient. Any Dem not pushing 80 has an automatic leg up that Biden can never achieve. Biden staying put is Trump's best shot.

 

We might get our answer tomorrow when Biden is supposed to do a solo press conference. He can get by when he reads a speech from a teleprompter, but he's in bad shape when he has to wing it with unprepared, rehearsed questions. If he totally freezes, on the world stage, it's hard to predict if he can survive that politically. The pressure will be huge for him to drop out.

Maybe, like it's been in the past, he will have prepared questions from preselected reporters.

I don't know why this is a question. Of course he's running. He's said it multiple times as has his administration. He's already got the delegates so the race for the primary is over unless Democrats plan to do some undemocratic coup and overthrow the primary vote...somehow.

I am enjoying the hang wringing of the deluded idiots who seriously didn't have any idea he was impaired until the debate! Hilarious!

 

I still don't think he will. I know he WANTS to, and there are some who still want him to, but every camera in the media is watching him for the tiniest gaffe now, and his senility is going to get worse, no better. I think that soon they are simply going to have no choice but to run someone else. Unless they are truly trying to lose on purpose, which I sort of suspect.

I thought for sure they would start promoting Kamala, presenting her as presidential, getting her out there with main stream media fawning interviews-----at least so that even if Biden runs, the Democrat voters would feel something good about the Vice President taking over when he is incapacitated.....which he will be at some point within the next four years. But it seems like they are absolutely ignoring her. Its puzzling to me. If the media can hide the dementia Biden was showing alll this time---surely they could do something with KH.

 

If the debate made anything clear, it's that he's incapacitated now. They're arguing the wrong premise. It isn't whether he's fit to serve another 4 years, it's that he's unfit right now. His OBVIOUS incapacity is the reason for the 25th, that the Dems don't have the balls or the honesty to acknowledge, let alone use. They were perfectly happy to go full-on Weekend At Bernie's until their own polling showed him circling the drain after the debate. They don't give a rip that he's unfit. They only care that he could lose.

Not all that puzzling. She's the only Dem who polls worse than Biden. They're between a rock & a hard place. She's their only real alternative. That leaves them with a senile old man on one hand, and a stupendously unlikable & unpopular veep on the other.

 

You kind of missed my point. Yes he will lose. They can't get him to quit. If he DOES capitulate, then Kamala would be able to get the campaign funds. She certainly would be an option at least. If he stays in...Kamala will eventually be President.

Why not promote her in the best light possible NOW. Not as the candidate but as an "accomplished" Vice President. To ignore her.....is going to anger a segment of Democrat minorities and women.

 

Yeah, both parties have for some reason put forward the two worst possible candidates. I think it is on purpose, to keep the American people enraged and divided as they struggle to make their turd look as polished as possible while pointing out the opposing side's lack of polish on their own turd. Division keeps the people distracted, and keeps the oligarchs controlling the uniparty in power.

Supposedly Biden has an unscripted press conference this evening. I bet that if he has major gaffes during it, then Biden will quickly be forced to step aside.

 

Once it's obvious that it's too late, the media will get back in line and all of these Dementia Joe stories will fade away. Many progressive forum posters have stated they'll vote for a corpse to keep the Democrats in power. The time to replace the candidate was during the primaries, when tales of Joe Senile were simply right wing conspiracy theory, Russian disinformation, and cheapfakes.

 

It shouldn't really be surprising. The Republicans are doing the same thing pretending Trump isn't declining.

If Brandon steps aside, they really have no other option but Kamala. She's the only one who can spend their campaign cash. Last I saw, their campaign fund was in the neighborhood of $400 million. Nobody else will be able to raise what they need this late in the game.

None of the above should be construed as anointing Trump and the spectacularly inept, duplicitous & cowardly GOP as victors this time around. Plus, the Dems have already conjured a winning formula: John Fetterman. Let us not underestimate the Dem propensity to vote for vegetables. Given that reality, Brandon could well be the winning choice. 'Murica!

 

He's going to do a presser in about three hours. Maybe we will get more insight about what he really intends to do then.

It has looked like he might survive all this step-aside momentum, but now that even Chuck Schumer has started to undermine him, he may have no choice but to go out as a some kind of Democrat "hero". It sure didn't help his cause either when big movie star and Democrat fund raiser George Clooney stabbed him in the back yesterday.
