The concern that young people will not obtain coverage since they know they must be treated under law for emergency care may soon see that change in the future. They cannot deny pre-existing conditions anymore so that too is a problem under the current law that hospitals must treat the uninsured. Its going to be a very sad when they do decide to change this law since many people cannot qualify for Medicaid or the exchange.
Unlikely. But it gave me an idea to replace Obamacare and would be Constitutional they could issue everyone a health care card with their income in a digital code. NO medical provider could refuse a patient from a practice to an ER including dental. After care they would pay on a sliding fee scale for the care based on a scan of the card from $1 to the full cost. The government using taxes raised like under Obamacare would subsidize the bill up to 50% and the provider would have to take it based on income. If they earn or have under 100% of the Federal Poverty line they could not ask for the rest of the money. Failure to do so would be a Federal Felony and/or be a large fine and considered medical malpractice. There that should work.
