How much time have you spent 'understanding' people who wear MAGA hats? How much time in your real life do you spend with people whose political views are diametrically opposite your own?

 

Wearing a hat is ok.

There is no 'morality' associated with a MAGA hat. It's a plain red hat with words on it - it doesn't have dismembered kittens attached to it, or squirt battery acid at passers by.

And if we submit to thought policing now, it will only get much worse. And anyone who supports the further sensitising of the citizenry by 'protecting them' from the ordinary insults of life in society, will be responsible for that 'much worse'.

1. Nothing is absolute, even tolerance. Life is not black and white. And no, I am not bound by your morals and beliefs. I can accept a democracy where we have rights, but there are responsibilities for using those rights and consequences for not doing so. Other countries do this, so can we.

2. You you are being deliberately blind. Or excusing one side because they aren't 'as bad' as the other.

3. How do we fix it? We can't. No one is willing to listen or accept anyone else's solutions. All we can do is ride the wave until it crashes.

4. I already do those things. It doesn't change anything.

5. As far as the people being in power swapping places, I know it won't fix anything. Like I said, as a country, I think we are pretty much doomed.

As far as why as why I think everyone attacking me is Conservative? Obviously it is likely not everyone. No absolutes, remember?

But when I give my opinion i notice the response i get. Does the other person just say okay and move on when they don't agree? Not on this board. They call me a monster. They say I am horrible. They just keep attacking. And it's not just me.

Don't you notice the posts where they take pleasure in other people's anguish and pain?

Well, I think that type of behavior is horrible. But I usually don't go spending all my time attacking them for it. It will just make them angrier and they will just fight back.

If both sides keep just fighting back, things will keep escalating. And eventually, it will come to blows. One side or the other needs to back down. And ideally, they need to take turns doing so until they agree to start accepting each other without hatred.

I am not a monster for the beliefs I have. And no one has the right to hurt me, weather that hurt is physical OR emotional.

Because if emotional harm is okay, then expect me to fight back when it is done to me.

If everyone is watching channel 10 and you're on channel 5, maybe you need to tune into channel 10 to see what it is your missing! It's not everyone else...you're outnumbered at people who don't agree with you and seemingly can't handle it...

 

1) democracy means we must ACCEPT the outcome of democratic process, however much we might hate it. acceptance means fighting back only via poll.

2) no, I wilfully force my eyes open despite being on the side doing wrong. it's not fun, and I wish it wasn't true - but it is. you will only know that if you care enough about your politics to look at the big picture, and consider all angles.

3) exactly. so let those who are doing wrong crash and burn (that's all we can do anyway, as you say), and hopefully the next generation will learn from that.

4) your vote doesn't change anything? seriously?

5) we are not ALL doomed. your good behaviour (keep your head down, work hard, save every cent, secure land & water if possible, focus on survival instead of your feelings, and mind your own business) now, will see you survive the implosion.

6) you need to consider how it sounds when you defend the violent, and blame a hat.

7) emotional 'injury' should be the least of your worries. it's grotesque to hear First Worlders angst about their feelings while there are still people starving in the world.

 

I have a different political position to most here (I'm even too far left for most of these Lefties) - but I'm not being made a doormat. No one cares about your politics here, not really. They respond to the content of your posts. Unfortunately you've defended violence and blamed the victim - that's not going to wash with most folk, regardless of who they vote for.

Trust me on that - I'm considered a 'victim blamer' when it comes to African Americans and negative attention from police, and that never goes down well for me.

 

I have plenty of exposure to other people's 'channels ' right here on this board.

I thank god that I am pretty certain this boards posters are an anomaly. I just don't see this same level of hate on other message boards I go to.

Most aren't agreeing with you, but you have made some pretty hostile remarks yourself in all honesty and are taking opposing views PERSONALLY!

 

You are arguing that the opinions of others should dictate your choices. When you act in self defense, the initial aggressor goes to jail. If a hat upsets you, it's a personal problem.

 

I don't blame anyone, I just consider both the man and the women EQUALLY stupid. And they both got punished for their stupidity (I am assuming the woman was charged and thrown in jail)

If you have a problem with that, fine. Everyone is allowed their opinions.

But how you respond to me. The word choices you use, I get to interpret them as I see it. And I am not so good detecting sarcasm and such, so I recommend being direct when talking to me.

And if you want to think I am a monster, that's okay. Just know that when you call me a monster, I consider that an emotional attack, and I will defend myself from all attacks.
