Does this seem like an excessive prison sentence to any of you, or are they just getting "tough" against drugs? I've read of cases where people were sentenced to less time for murder. The woman is 33-year-old Stephanie Seabeck, of Posey County, Indiana. The woman set up a drug transaction and her boyfriend delivered the methamphetamine to an undercover informant. Woman sentenced to 20 years in prison for conspiracy to sell Meth (14news.com), June 1, 2022
Meth is not a natural drug, if it was marijuana, it would be excessive - she will be probably do half of that time "They say a Posey Co. jury previously found Seabeck guilty of conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine, a level 2 felony." what sentence did she get the first time? or does that mean previously as in before the sentancing?
A man was sentenced to 10 years for the rape and murder of a child here. The same sentence as is the maximum for growing tobacco in your backyard. Commit any heinous violent crime and you are liable to be let off very leniently. You had diminished responsibility you see, and a history of marginalization. Commit any crime that questions the power of the state and you are likely to die in prison, even for gardening.
No one trafficking methamphetamine gets any sympathy from me. That is the most evil drug out there responsible for destroying the greatest number of people. Crack could only dream
Yes, that's an excessive sentence for not committing violence. The family of the next person in IN murdered by a violent criminal released from prison due to 'not enough space' can rest easy knowing this woman is there instead, for selling something to people who wanted it.
To be fair, there wasn't really strong evidence that this woman did anything other than arrange a deal by telephone, a deal that her boyfriend actually carried out.
