If the Third World War breaks out only have a responsibility: Germany and the United States by the coup d'etat against a legitimate government that won elections.

I doubt if Obama would go to war over North Dakota, much less little countries in Europe that his base has no idea about. That may change in 2017, but not until then.

Other than military intervention, there is really nothing any western leaders can do to stop Russia. This is their backyard. WWIII would be getting here a lot sooner if the west went in there guns blazing. A conflict with Russia would be catastrophic for everyone involved.

They were different times, different mentality and much weaker weapons. In those times, imperialism was not necessarlily seen as a negative thing, provide the ones to suffer were the " others ". Now we are mature and literate enought to know nothing good comes from imperialism. But most of all, who wants a nuclear war, since billions will die, and the remaining humans will all be severily crippled by radiations? Even leaders are not safe, they can hide in a antinuclear bunker but what gives if all they find when coming out is a desolated planet full of radiations? So i presume since even leaders will die, they are much less likely to desire a WW3. We fear it and nobody wants it, so it's very unlikely to happen.

Actually, I've seen a delusional rightwing blogger who argued that NATO CAN fight a land war with Russia over Ukraine and it NOT escalate into nuclear war.

Don't believe there aren't a few "General Buck Turgidson" types out there on the Right...there are.

Obviously it is possible for NATO to fight a war with Russia over Ukraine without any resort to nuclear weapons. Equally obviously NATO will not do this because Ukraine is outside NATO and not important enough for NATO to wage war over.

why should anyone be concerned about WWIII when there is breaking news on CNN that a coke can similar to the ones carried on flight 370 was found floating in the Indian Ocean, plus later they will be interviewing the cousin of a woman who once babysat the pilots nephew

Impossible. If NATO attack Ukraine.. Russian ICBM fall down over the West (and I´m afraid also the biological weapons). Russia will never allow a wester intervention...
all attacks from the west, ABSOLUTLY ALL, failed, and finished with the Russians troops conquered the capital of the invader ... if the West wants war, will be the war and the full annihilation, the Total War. and ICBM is a weapon to be used against West, of course! West ought to learn a lesson: Don´t Steal!!!! Don´t give Coup against Rodina!.

Ukraine never be a westerners´puppet state: or Ukraine is split, or is neutral or is anexed to Russia or not life over Earth planet, I can´t see any other options.

So basically your claim is that Russia is eager to commit suicide?

    No, What I say It´s:

1 - Russia showed a sincere desire for peace in the 90s ,but westerners understood as a sign of weakness. West violated agreements not to expand NATO to former Warszawa Treaty countries.
. 2 - West violated international agreement not to interfere in the internal affairs of countries (Yugoslavia 1991-1995)
. 3 - West violated the international principle of respecting the territorial integrity of states (Kosovo, 1999)
. 4 - West violated the international principle of respecting the decisions of sovereign governments ( Ukrainia , 2014) ..

It is the strawr that broke the camel's back.. No more assignments. West must understand it is not a joke, It will be the mutual destruction for sure , of course, It would be nice to avoid, but Russia has its red lines that must not be crossed : From 1990, Rusia has been humbled by Westerners but ..No this time, No today, not in Ukrainia.
1 - . No be tolerated any West Control over Ukraine .
2 - . Ukraine should be converted into neutral state (like Finland) or:
a - . Ukraine should be divided ( the Austro-Hungarian , that is the fascist part of the country to the West , the rest for Russia)
b - All Ukraine must return to Rodina and be annexed , like a guarantee to prevent Westerners continue to violate international right and continue their anti-Russian expansionist activities in territories of the former Soviet Union and the Russian Empire.

    Regards.

You forget N. Korea, China has interest in numerous islands in the China Sea, I don't see them trying for Taiwan anytime soon. It doesn't necessarily have to be a land grab, it could be any number of things that are confrontational. The point being, when the US is weak, people see it, and they know they can get away with a whole lot more.

The other major issue that could rise from this is other groups outside the Ukraine using the whole referendum concept to break away from the states they are currently attached to...

It only takes a few seemingly small things to go wrong at once to create a snowball effect...

Context? You obviously have no clue what that means. You ignore the Cold War and its role in what was happening in each of those scenarios. In case you haven't noticed the world is a far more dangerous place now that its over.

Yes, Ukraine and Caucasus (Armenia is another red line).

You obviously have no clue what than means. Cyprus was invade by Turkey in 1974 (NATO member) against Greece (NATO member, or not?)... by the way Where are the sanctions against Turkey since 1974? Because even today, Cyprus is partly occupied by the Turkish army.

Second, West Sahara was invade by Morocco (USA ally).. Where are the sanctions against Morocco since 1976? And West Sahara belongs to Spain (another USA ally... or not?) till the conclusion of referendum, it´s never been held.

Who knows? Maybe Greece and Spain should change their allies and turn eyes to Moscow...It would be nice to have bases and systems in Greece and in Canary.. After all, USA prefered Turkey and Morocco than Greece and Spain... Russia would never have preferred an Islamic country than a Christian...

Putin better stop after he takes the Ukraine or he's gonna be in BIG trouble with Obama.

His whole family could be banned from Disneyland for the rest of Obama's time in office if Putin doesn't obey Der Fuhrer.

That rarely ends particularly well for the offending party... In situations like Nam, they might "win"... but in the end, they lose several hundred to several thousand percent more personnel, and we never actually lose any territory we claim sovereignty over.

    - - - Updated - - -

You mean the same Crimea that is/was part of Ukraine? They were mucking around in Ukraine then, and they are mucking around in Ukraine now.

The offending party that started Vietnam was the French and their colonialism. Vietnam gained its sovereignty, their internal conflict was just that, and like it or not they are still dirty commies to this day, and dirty commies don't seem to value the lives of their people all that much...

If anyone hasn't noticed, when it comes to the Ukraine, Crimea is no longer even on the top of the list of concerns, almost as though its settled business. Its an easy template to follow and others may well do just that...

Not going to fight about that. Although I really think Wilson could have done more about the situation after World War I. Ho Chi Mihn was a much bigger fan of the US back in those days, and we had a pretty large amount of leverage we could have exerted.
