Get educated? Just in the 20th Century...democides Thus, the new world total: old total 1900-1999 = 174,000,000. New World total = 174,000,000 + 38,000,000 (new for China) + 50,000,000 (new for Colonies) = 262,000,000. 262,000,000 killed by their fellow human. http://www.hawaii.edu/powerkills/20TH.HTM Yeah we're "social" alright. A quarter of a Billion ....killed by their fellow human. So what's one more guy on the side of the road bleeding to death? We already abort millions of our own fetuses... The proverbial drop in the bucket of humanity's "social" skills I presume. We kill both the born and unborn of our species by the hundreds of millions... It is you that need to get educated...
That is true, no one really knows what they would do in a certain situation unless they were actually in that situation. I like to think that I would help, though.
So you think that because Christians are more moral, they are the only ones who would help? Biggest load of (*)(*)(*)(*) I have read from you, Herk. Atheists can be moral. Christians can be immoral.
before the invention of god there was a social bond of our species, religious morality is only a codification of the rules that guided our already existing homo sapien behaviour... as a life long atheist as well as my brother who was with me we had no religious morality to guide us when he risked our own lives to save a man from drowning, an act that well could have gotten both of us killed as well...what we had was normal homo sapien behaviour, one of our own needed help and we did...god had nothing to do with it, it's interesting that you only feel compelled to help because you fear punishment from this mythical pixie...
Like any (somewhat) normal human being, I would wait until the fire subsided. It is not like a firefight in war, usually they end sooner rather than later. Then I would help. Unless we are talking about a firefight in a war, in which I would very well risk myself to help another brother or sister in arms. First rule of first aid, don't talk about first aid. (*)(*)(*)(*) it.
Priceless. You're right, Herkdriver, I have absolutely no inclination to help another human being. Are you (*)(*)(*)(*)ing kidding me?
So just to answer the question and not get into the other responses. I would quickly evaluate the situation and normally would respond. If my family was with me, I would be far more cautious than if I was by myself. I can't remember the last time I encountered an accident with injuries but I tend to stop and help people when they are clearly in trouble.
