If you read the unions “demands” you would see that all the union ever asked for was basic raises. The average Yellow OTR driver was $65,000(approx). Their pensions were guaranteed by the federal government and wont be effected by this. So while your all screaming about the union and their “demands”, did anyone ask what the C-Suite was being paid ? I saw that the CFO made $3 mil a year, but his stock options were another $7 mil. At the end of the day, the C-Suite destroyed this company. These drivers were not overpaid. $60k per year is actually low on the average for an OTR trucker ($83k)
I disagree. There is a break even point for robotics and economics. Someone has to get paid to buy the product you make, so you can make more of your product, and so you can buy their product.
The threatened strike caused them to lose customers and demands from the union were even sited in left wing media as being the reason. You can ignore that all you want but those are the facts
You think a single "threatened strike" broke this 94 YO company ? Hmmm...which one of those drivers made all these decisions that killed Yellow ? Seriously, which ones ?
Yeah, and they all buy them online and who do you think stocks the warehouses and delivers those products to your house ?
This story is over a week old … funny that Fox took so long to spin it on unions and did not mention that Yellow went into massive debt taking loans to buy out smaller trucking firms … nor did they mention that the teamsters made massive concessions trying to save employees jobs … Yellow is guilty of greed …
If you say so, but I'm reading there was more to it like "years of financial struggles and growing debt". Yes. Trump would throw another billion of taxpayer money at them and hope it works this time. IMO failing companies need to be allowed to fail. That has been the case for at least 30 yrs now.
