Although I am a Gentile I just took two glasses of water because Yom Kippur begins in about one hour and I will not be eating any food or even drinking any water or other liquid until about 8 pm tomorrow evening. The last ten days are known as the "ten days of awe" between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. I've been fasting on this day for about forty years and although I am not yet Jewish........ it sure seems as if my philosophy of life has been greatly improved due to making at least a feeble effort to show respect for the High Holy Days of Judaism. My search to notice hidden meaning in Yom Kippur has played a huge role in my becoming convinced of eventual universal salvation........ I am curious how many people on this forum are interested in possible hidden meaning in the Jewish Holy Days?
The G-d of Abraham / HaShem.... is extremely good at leading people to deeper and deeper and deeper levels of repentance......and the understanding of our own failings and humanity. In my opinion.... it is not a coincidence that those tapes about The Donald came out during the Ten Days of Awe. Have you ever read the tradition that in the time of King Solomon, the son of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba was trained in all the 613 laws of Judaism. When the son of King Solomon returned to Ethiopia many members of the Tribes of Dan and Levi went with him. Solomon is recorded to have made him a duplicate of the Ark of the Covenant so that the Levitical laws could be kept there in Ethiopia.... because it was too far for him to go to Jerusalem every year for Sukkot and the other annual Festivals.
